Am I Missing Something

I'm confused. What format and compression should I use that's a good

trade off between storage size and quality. I'm not really sure what

the difference is between AAC, AIFF,Wav, Apple Lostless, etc.... Sorry

for such an elementary question but I think a lot of people are

confused by this.

I just hooked up my ifi and it does not seem as clear as it should be. It seems like the satellites are a little distorted. I am using it with a nano. I triple checked the wires. Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something?

What is your EQ set on in the ipod nano? If its on bass booster that could be the problem of the distortion. Try and set the EQ on flat or Treble booster. The SQ will be much better. I have notice the same problem with the ipods and there bass boosters. It will distort the satellites of the iFi, which makes it sound junk when that could be fixed. In my opinion, I think the ipods have horrible EQ.

I found hooking up the iFi to the iMac sucks. The iMac has a really low quality soundcard for some reason. The ipod's are not much better and i can also hear much distortion esps. with low quality mp3's. Some of my co-works and said "wow thse speakers are not that great" when in fact it has nothing to do with the speakers and everything to do with the DAC and the Sound file. Its really hard to get everything set up right and even in my store i can't do it unless I take the iFi's off the iMac and put them on a PC after I install an audigy which no one would allow. I have managed to transfer some of my higher quality mp3's to the iMac but they are offset by the low quality DAC.
