TKA
I bought the Klipsch Synergy 1 series of speakers for a surround sound system. In another post people have discussed the lack of power needs for Klipsch speakers. I am now running them with a Denon 3300 AV Reciever which has plenty of power for this system. If I wanted to down size the reciever what would be some good matches for these speakers? Thanks TKA

TKA
I am thinking about putting it on different speakers and using a smaller amp to run the Klipschs. The Denon is great, so I think I will leave it with the big screen tv and use the Klipsch speakers on a different tv in a smaller room. But money is always a consideration so I am looking for an inexpensive reciever to run the Klipsch. TKA
Steve Phillips
TKA,what speakers will go with the 3300?More Klipsch? Anyway,if you don't mind giving up some features of the 3300,the 1801 or 2801 will be good down sizers. As far as lack of power for Klipsch goes,I'm just a nut for major over kill. The TOO much power that's in my system......well it's never used,it sure did add to the dynamics and over all low volume impact. I have the 2800 in my bed room with KSB 2.1's and 1.1's and it's more than enough. The 2800 is last years 2801(85X5) ------------------ My Home Theater: '77 Klipschorn L&R '75 Heresy center, modified with,K-Horn sqauwker & AA network. boa12
yea definitely don't get a low-priced sony (i.e., light amps/low current). look for good amperage besides watt output. seen those smaller denons for <$300 - even like @ sears. ------------------ RF-3 (front), RC-3, Cornwall I (rear) Velodyne HGS-15 sub Monsterbass 400 sub cables & Monster Z-12 speak wire Sony de935 a/v receiver Sony DVP-C650D dvdp Sony Trinitron 27" tv Technics dual cassette deck Technics direct drive turntable Scientific Atlanta Explorer 2000 digital cable box rock on! carlos
steve is right the more power the better your system will sound at lower volumes
Spider124
I'm not sure I'd agree with the 'More power means better sound at lower volumes' stuff. Try telling that to SET users, for one. Also, typically big class a/b amps do not have the greatest crossover distortion characteristics when outputting at lower levels. (Distortion INCREASES as power output decreases.) TKA
I think I will leave the HT alone, forget about a second HT and start over on my stereo with a tube amp and some yet to be decided speakers. Any suggestions? TKA
