SolChild
I have a question, did Klipsch make La Scala Subwoofers or a bass cabinet of some sort? I would imagine they look like the bottom part of a La Scala. thanks
DrWho
The industrial versions (black with metal trim) came in "split" form where the HF section and LF section were never connected. This allowed one to stack the bass bins and then stack the HF units on the top. Thus reducing comb-filtering and getting the HF section up high where it needs to be in order to project. I don't think they were ever sold new independantly from the HF section, but you'll find them seperated on ebay all the time.

colterphoto1
I've got a couple sets of the split LS industrial cabinets. They were made in several finishes, but are not really Subs, just the W bin or low end portion of the LS cabinet. The industrials carried the 200 watt K43 woofer which doesn't go quite as low as the standard 100 watt K33. Finishes were pebble paint, pebble paint with vinyl edge guards and corners, black fibreglass with aluminum trim (I have two pairs of these). Again, these were mostly PA cabinets, and wouldn't make a good sub for home or other system as they only go down to 45 hz or so. But they are ridiculously efficient at 104 db with one watt input. SolChild
so its not a sub, its just the bottom part of the regular la scala's? hmm, and they only go to 45hz? I like the idea of them being separate thoough. thanks for the info! Sol.
Thack
Yes is your answer. Model number LS-LF. They are literally a La Scala without the mid and HF horn section. Sit them under the La Scala box and they "couple" and will throw LF at your chest like a round with Ali. PWK was at first mortified when he learned that La Scala boxes were actually getting sawn up to make the LF section. It took him no time to appreciate the value and put them into production. We have also used the MWM cabinets under La Scalas with awesome results.
colterphoto1
the LS LF section was available separately, but would not be a 'Sub' by today's standards by any measure. It is a very efficient live PA cabinet, but the low frequency extension for movies just isn't there. Guys around here with all LS HT's ( I know of a 7.1 system in ALL LS), STILL use sub woofer systems for the very low bass frequencies used in movie .1LFE soundtracks.
