DizRotus
I never knew that Neil Young and I share the same birthday, as well as the same first name. When I saw the subject of this post, I thought, "How does he know that it was my birthday yesterday?" And then I thought, But Im not yet 60.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Alas, its Neil Young who is sixty. Ive got three more years before becoming a sexagenarian.

reactor444
Actually Neil is considered a great guitarist..He has a style that is all his own and there are very few that are like that. Have him play on anybodys album and you know it's Neil..Thats the mark of a truly unique guitar player..
Timmikid
Is he a great guitar player? How about a great voice.?? Ehh yes! He's one of my favourites and Lou Reed's favourite guitar player.[<)]
JulieHeartKlipsch
Neil Young great guitar player? You gotta be kidding. He has a distinctive style but any guitarist could copy it. Great singer? You gotta be kidding. When I first played him for Beth she asked who it was and I said Neil Young and she said "Neil Young! I thought it was a girl!!!!" This was After the Gold Rush. Plus he plays everything too loud!!! Here is one of his greatest (LOL!!!!!) lyrics below if this works: "T-Bone" Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone No T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Got mashed potatoes Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone Ain't got no T-Bone

Happy BD Neil.[] Fan, Can't argue with that. But then again, Jimi didn't record Neil's compositions. IE: "all along the watch tower"......... Not that I am defending Dylan. Never owned any of his music. Terry PS: C,S&N added Neil to the band. Wish I had some of what they were on!

I don't play guitar. If I picked up the instrument and raked my fingers over the the strings,.......I would have "a style of my own". If Neil is considered to be a "national treasure" up north, then forgive me. I just think about his peers, in his time. Page, Jimi, Claption, Carlos, Jeff Beck, ............ Maybe we should define "great". Regards, Terry

D-MAN
I have always wondered what is it exactly - that a guy who clearly sings worse than me (even) can not only make it as a singer but an extremely successful one? You got to respect that, if nothing else! DM
mark1101
I believe those lyrics in "Sweet Home Alabama" are Skynyrd's response to Neil Young's "Southern Man" tune. Listen to "Southern Man" and you'll understand.
reactor444
Neil is considered a great guitarist because he has developed a sound all his own..No he does not play as fast as Eddie Van Halen or is as accurate as a good studio guy like Eric Clapton..Neil's playing is distinctive and all his own..There are a million Eric Claptons but only one Neil.. Parrot
I think you're biased just because Canada has had only a handful of pop stars in its history. Where are these million Eric Claptons anyway?
codhead
"I think you're biased just because Canada has had only a handful of pop stars in its history ..." Canada is just crawling with musical talent. Here's a good example... Bob & Doug McKenzie with Geddy Lee!
