Deang
Al, interesting way of looking at that. Mark, autoformer handles the squawker only. Ya know, if you drop the squawker a wee bit you're going hear more bass, and if you raise it you will hear less. Now, with that said -- I use the sound of the bottom end to help me find the best squawker setting.
mark1101
Yeah Dean, That's pretty much what I found. I wasn't sure if the woofer was affected or not. I thought it might be since you do hear either more or less bass when changing taps as you mention.
mikebse2a3
FYI I'm not seeing any picture in Trey's post (it is just showing a red X in the box) can any of you see anything?

D-MAN
What Mark said is definitely true. The power (level is fixed and constant) is distributed differently based on the setting of the attenuator. This effects the woofer in available power level, such as more midrange attenuation means more power is available to the woofer, and visa versa given that the power setting remains constant. Essentially, it is a balancing act between the two drivers. This assumes the fixed nature of the frequency distribution between the two. A +/-2db stepped arrangement would be nice to have, I think. The finer the granularity the better. A +/-1db step would be real nice. DM
