Two better than one?

The above link shows "exactly" what amp I'm using with my two Rf-7 speakers. Does anyone think this "two better than one" stereo monoblock setup could be better, have more control over the drivers than a single stereo amp?

Sure, sometime I would like to try tubes or maybe even a Pro-amp to make my 7's sing but in the meantime I'm wondering if this could hold me over.

........Just curious what anyone else thinks about using two stereo amps for two speakers.

Are you looking to biamp or to strap them mono? With the high efficiency and relatively low volumes that you'll be using through any klipsch speakers I think it'd be a waste to of time unless you plan on biamping with an appropriate active crossover.

I've tried bi-amping with a dozen or so, amplifier setups... and quite frankly, I find my current set up with them running off my Denon 3801, by themselves, quite pleasing.

I've got mine bi-wired with some moderately priced cable and have spectacular results.

Just my opinion, of course.

Results may vary.

No matter what you decide to do, it will be a winner...as long as it involes RF7s.

I've hooked mine up to roughly 50 or so different amps/sources and have achieved 50m or so results.

Fact is.... these speakers can do whatever you ask them to.

Question really becomes, what do you want them to do, not what are they capable of.

If you want a spectacular 2 channel set-up, then invest in a decent pre-pro.

If integrated surround sound is your goal, then invest in a newer HT receiver.

IMO. Either way, you can't lose.

I've been saying this for years.

RF7s are incedible, by themselves...without mods or alterations.

Granted, there is always room for modification, when one figures out what expense was cut to reduce the cost of production overhead.

Enjoy.

Regards,

John.

...Thanks....

They would be strapped as monos. I'm losing interest as I type, probably not the best bang for the buck. A tube preamp still sounds very interesting along with a bigger S.S. amp someday.

The ability to change the RF7's sound with different gear is sure believable.

Ya, bridging amps doubles the noise floor and the distortion levels for the same output (slight variances between amplifier designs) - and it also significantly alters the behavior of the "first watt" (think of the multiplier jumping from 2x to 20x between no singnal and little signal...not usually apparent with class A designs, but whatever).

Bridging however lowers the high level distortion and vastly reduces power compression as well. But you aren't going to be running the amps at near clipping (like would be done with inefficient speakers or in a PA setting).

Do you guys think I don't know about this? [:o] This is one of man's greatest fantasies. Since it is man's biggest fantasy I am seriously considering arranging this for dtel. I think he deserves it.

Do you think he deserves it? [:D]

Is it really a man's #1 fantasy? This poll excludes you guys from Montana with your sheep. [;)]

He deserves it. Here's a pair of babes I think you can hook him up with. Let me know if you need their contact info.

Not exactly what we had in mind. Is that what you mean by "I do all my own stunts." [;)] We don't even want a picture of those stunts, dtel says he may not be able to do any "stunts" for a week after viewing that pic.

Well, it would either cure him or kill him, that's for sure.

Rick.

P.S. - You can't see me in the picture, but I'm under the one on the right side. If you look close, you can see me frantically waving a bag of chips, trying to get someone's attention!!

I don't want to kill him or cure him, just fulfill his fantasy. You may not want to let anyone know you are even in that picture.[;)]

Sorry about the diversion Speedball. I'll try to help with the amps now.......

We used NAD amps in the soundrooms where I worked years ago. They were good amps when run in stereo, but the 2200 and 2600 really did sound better when they were bridged. A pair of 2600s driving Fortes used to be my favorite combination in the whole store. I say......Go For It!!!

Rick.

Yo Speedball,

I say go with the X-Over rebuild or maybe even a good used tube pre out on A-goN before doubling up on any more power.

As you can see I prefer tube pre's and SS pow[:D]
