I use my pc as my home theater and I woudl love to be able to hear the 5.1 soundtrack on a DVD instead of the same old dolby surround. Seb Posted February 13, 2001 Share Posted February 13, 2001 1) do you use it with a TV or with your computer? if you use it with your TV, then it is NOT a PC configuration. if you use it with your monitor, you do not need 5.1. sur you will hear a difference, there's another speaker! but it will not add to your experience. i get the feeling that you haven't experienced 5.1 with your puter. then how could you know whether 5.1 is better? sure it sounds better when you say to your friends "i've got dolby digital 5.1 on my computer", but then they'll be much more impressed when you actually make them hear the pros... so before you say a statement is crap...
