jacksonbart Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/04/19/eye.ent.worstsong/index.html Must have been a hit and stunk from the get go, as opposed to being just over played. Never heard of the one mentioned in the article Don't know how far th theme song to Ghost Busters made it up the charts, but that is the worst one I can think of now. Quote
jacksonbart Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 Little Red Corvette!!!!! Very good, LOL, should have seen that one coming. BTW just for the record you did call Jay fat. Quote
flannj Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I do remember "Honey" I was 9 I thought I had erased all memory of that - Thanks a lot jb. But for a true steaming pile of suck... http://www.amazon.com/gp/music/clipserve/B0002WZT4S001008/0/ref=mu_sam_wma_001_008/102-5050346-4912935 I fear where this thread may go... Quote

jacksonbart Posted April 25, 2006 Author Posted April 25, 2006 Little Red Corvette!!!!! Very good, LOL, should have seen that one coming. BTW just for the record you did call Jay fat. NO I didn't; worst song; In Gadda Da Vidda, that Iron Butterfly ditty!! Ok, lets burry the hatchet my bad you didn't. While your song is 17 minutes long and not good not sure it can compete with Ray Parker jr singing: "If there's something strange in your neighborhood Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters! If there's something weird and it don't look good Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!" A little known fact about the song, Huey Lewis sued Parker for plagiarizing the medley to his song "I Want A New Drug" on this. They settled out of court and agreed not to talk about the case in public. In 2001, Lewis talked about the case in public when he revealed that Parker paid to settle the suit on an episode of VH1's Behind The Music. Parker then sued Lewis for violating the terms of their agreement. The song 'I want a New Drug' would have to be my number 2 song. Another little known fact Ghost Busters was nominated for an Oscar for Best Song From A Movie. It lost to "I Just Called To Say I Love You" by Stevie Wonder. 'I just called to say I love you' would be my #3 worst ever song. Quote
fanbrain Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 MacArthur Park by Richard Harris. "Someone left the cake out in the rain I don't think that I can take it 'Cause it took so long to bake it And I'll never have that recipe again Oh, no! " Ahhh; it's so...horrible... http://www.songfacts.com/lyrics.php?findsong=1875 Quote
oldbuckster Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 No hacthet to bury, all in good fun; InGadda if you remember, had a short radio version, it sucked too! How about , Debby Boone, You light up my life, now there is a crap song. One more, Peter Frampton, I'm in you, pleaaase!!!! Who you gonna call? See What You Started!!! Quote
Daddy Dee Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 oldbuckster: YOU BLASPHEME!!! didn't you at least like the drum solo? I second one post above on MacArthur Park.... that song is so bad, the system won't even let me paste in the lyrics gaaaaaag a maaaagot Quote
Fish Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I know there is worse but,Don't Bring Me Down by ELO is the one I instantly think of when I think of sucky songs.McArthur Park is another one, wow. Quote
SteelerFan Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 How about that "Macarena" song back in the mid 90's? Actually that's a twofer because it had one of the worst dances of all time to go with it. Hey wait, speaking of twofers, how about "YMCA"?[] Quote
ScorpsFan Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Sounds like this has quickly deteriorated from worst song, to worst singer of a song.....I actually like MacArthur Park, but the Donna Summers version, not the Richard Harris version. Speaking of songs ruined by singers here's a whole album of them..... Quote
Bill H. Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 My Pick for the Worst song (if you can call it that)..... "Love a rainy night"........... Quote
twheats1 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Don't leave out, "A Lion Sleeps tonight". Pure dreck! [+o(] Quote
colterphoto1 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Worst concert and album ever- William Shatner 'symphony of the stars'. Basically him doing dramatic readings with some orchestral backup. M Quote
colterphoto1 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 http://www.clivebanks.co.uk/Shatnersings.htm Or his version of Lucy in the Sky- really really horrible! Quote
Bonder Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band... I think they actually won a grammy for this piece of trash in the mid 70's! Quote
colterphoto1 Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band... I think they actually won a grammy for this piece of trash in the mid 70's! yeah, but it was about 'gettin it' and got massive airplay- pretty good for the 70's. I actually have fond memories of that song at roller skating rinks.... where the first kiss, and a few other firsts happened! M Quote
pmsummer Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Worst song ever? It's a constantly moving target. But an easy hit is to just turn on a commercial radio station. Five will get you ten that the "worst song ever" will be playing at that instant. PS: Yes, I know there are exceptions in the "Land of Clear Channel", but not very many of them. Quote
Mighty Favog Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 O.k, this is goingn back a ways but "Brand New Key" as in "I've got a brand new pair of rollerskates, you got a brand new key..." I'm sure I'll think of more later. Here's another "Lawyers in love" from Jackson Browne. Quote
