Tom and Mike, thanks for the kind words. The wire looming is from Radio Shack. Thank goodnes you can't see the rats nest behind the equipment rack.

theahnfahn, I like the couch and think it looks better in person than in the pictures. When you decide to buy me some furniture, we'll pick out something we both like!

John, I live in a detached single family ranch style home. The home theater room is in the basement. The exterior of the house is a contemporary style with multiple roofs and I remember that this beam had to be made larger for the additional weight and for the fact that I wanted only one column. The boxed in section also contains heat and A/C ductwork.

very nice Kevin, where did you get the stands to support the Hersey II's? I just got mine on Friday and due to the fact most stands support only the 20-30 lb range(bookshelf) was wondering if you custom built yours?

Anyone know of premade stands that would support the Hersey's 37.7 lbs and 15.5 X 13.25 D's(links) standing 24" to 30?.

The stands are a 24" tall plant stand that I special ordered from a local oak furniture store with a top sized to fit the Heresy and stained black.

Very nice indeed. Like the neat & clean look.

So the wire looming is a flexible conduit type? I'm also curious as to the length and type of video cable you use to send signals between the TV and audio system? Is gray or blue item on the unit an FM Antennae?

btw - Behind mine looks like a den of Pythons are laying serpentine back there.

Great job!

ShapeShifter,

Thanks for the kind words.

The wire loom is flexible. It was really designed for, and I originally bought it for, cleaning up the wiring behind the equipment racks. But I had so much wire running along the floor that I decided to use it there. Because it is flexible, it doesn't always lie as straight as I would like, so I may replace it someday with a more rigid product, such as black PVC pipe (if there is such a thing). Then I guess I would have to get off my butt and use the looming behind the equipment rack.

The black item on top of the amp is an inexpensive FM antenna from Radio Shack that doesn't really do the job in the basement. Since I listen to virtually no FM in the room, it doesn't really matter. I was splitting off my outdoor antenna, but that knocked down the signal enough to affect my off air HDTV reception. I need to find a splitter that has no loss and I'll replace the antenna.

The video cables from the TV are a couple of VGA to BNG breakout cables with RCA adapters for the HDTV signal, and a Monster S Video cable for non HDTV. HDTV is run straight to the set, the S video goes thru the processor.

Very good systen, some high class gear in there.Congrats you have a very fine music and HT setup in there.

The McIntosh amp,pre/pro and player are worthy of the finest systems.Me like Me like

I noticed before reading your Nakamichi tape deck, another fine piece. And the Denon turntable,a piece that will last.

The Herseys no doubt sound fantastic with the McIntosh amp,and great choice of subs,HSU.

All in all a very classy system.A system even TheEAR would be proud of. Smile.gif

Justin,

Thanks for the kind words.

I have been buying and selling audio equipment as my hobby for about 31 years. Rule number one is to never figure out how much you've spent!

By the way, what does LiMM mean?

LiMM means Laughing in My Mind... my g/f (girl friend cwm12.gif) and i made it up cause when we chatted online we would always say, LoL... which was not true becaues we were not really laughing out loud, well sometimes we did and it was embarassing..... too much info... LiMM! so we made up LiMM. just trying to spread it around. Smile.gif

i have been interested in HT since my Optimus Home Theater i got from Radio Shack in the 6th and 7th Grade. It was so cool at the time. Even today though, the sound is pretty good considering i got the whole 5.1 system including amp and receiver for $799.

eq,

The Heresy just sits on top of the TV with a couple of rubber chair leg protectors wedged beneath it to aim it down towards the listening area.

Kevin,

That is a very classy set-up. By the way, I like the couch. Wish my basement looked this good. Sure get a lot of light there in a basement.
