Kevin S
Thanks for the info Mike. But if I tried to mod anything, it would just mean I would have to buy a new one! So I'll keep using the pencil and paper addition method. ------------------ L/C/R: Klipsch Heresy II Surround: Klipsch RS-3 Subwoofers: 2 HSU-VTF-2 Pre/Pro/Tuner: McIntosh MX-132 AMP: McIntosh MC-7205 DVD: McIntosh MVP-831 CD Transport: Pioneer PD-F908 100 Disc Changer Turntable: Denon DP-72L Cassette: Nakamichi BX-1 T.V. : Mitsubishi 55905 SAT/HDTV: RCA DTC-100 Surge Protector: Monster Power HTS-5000

mike stehr
Kevin, Even if you have minimal soldering skill it is still a very easy mod. You just take his list of new value Capacitors, and solder them to the back of the board, you don't have to remove the old caps either. It was easier for me to do this than using the paper and pencil method. Thanx!
Kevin S
Mike, My skill with anything resembling a powered tool is just about nil. I think I may have tried to solder something once in my life, but can't be sure. When my daughter was 3 or 4 years old she actually "told on me", to my wife, when she saw me bring a power drill into the house. She knew nothing good ever happened if I was going to use a power tool. ------------------ L/C/R: Klipsch Heresy II Surround: Klipsch RS-3 Subwoofers: 2 HSU-VTF-2 Pre/Pro/Tuner: McIntosh MX-132 AMP: McIntosh MC-7205 DVD: McIntosh MVP-831 CD Transport: Pioneer PD-F908 100 Disc Changer Turntable: Denon DP-72L Cassette: Nakamichi BX-1 T.V. : Mitsubishi 55905 SAT/HDTV: RCA DTC-100 Surge Protector: Monster Power HTS-5000

Kevin S
The monitor was too large to fit on the desktop of the roll top. But the PC has been replaced by a laptop, so only the printer sits up there now. ------------------ L/C/R: Klipsch Heresy II Surround: Klipsch RS-3 Subwoofers: 2 HSU-VTF-2 Pre/Pro/Tuner: McIntosh MX-132 AMP: McIntosh MC-7205 DVD: McIntosh MVP-831 CD Transport: Pioneer PD-F908 100 Disc Changer Turntable: Denon DP-72L Cassette: Nakamichi BX-1 T.V. : Mitsubishi 55905 SAT/HDTV: RCA DTC-100 Surge Protector: Monster Power HTS-5000
maxg
Wow - a fellow Heresy lover. I too have a Heresy/sub combo but with rather different amplification from yours. I have mated my Heresy's with a REL Strata 3 sub which I chose because it is a sealed unit that matches tonally with the Heresy's amazingly well. In fact it is sometimes hard to remember when listening to music that there is a sub there at all. It sounds like I have simply a pair of Heresy's with an extended range down to 20 Hz. Unfortunately the picture doesnt show the sub - it is not much to look at anyway, just a large black box. ------------------ 2 * Heresy 2 (mains) 2 * Homemade horn speakers (rears) 1 * REL Strata 3 sub Accuphase E211 amp. dubai2000
maxg, nice setup (and I like the statues on top of your Heresys.) BTW: Do you listen regularly to both your amps? I must admit that since I got my tube amp two weeks ago I haven't switched on mc Mc amps anymore - and until now I really don't miss them. Glad you like your REL! aab3rd
maxg What kind of monoblocks are those, they are pretty.
maxg
My monoblocks are locally produced 45 wpc push pull units that I bought from the guy that makes them. If is more of a hobby for him than a real business (he works elsewhere and opens for about 3 hours an evening - not weekends). They were reviewed in a local Greek audiophile mag that raved about them - I went to listen and bought them immediately - they were a steal (2 monoblocks plus the Pre-amp for around $900 - incredible pricing in Greece). I use both amps but tend to use the tubes more. The accuphase plays while the amps are warming up, when I want to play Rock music (more slam) and also play the rear channel for SACD multichannel. Despite the fact the tubes cost me one third of the accuphase I would have to say they are the better amp overall - the accuphase wins on flexibility but in outright quality the tubes have it. This photo is a little old now - I will try to arrange a new one. Basic changes are: - The speakers are now on their sides (bigger soundstage). - The Rel Strata 3 has been added. - A Sony NS900 dvd/SACD has replaced the Denon 3000 DVD. Otherwise looks much the same (statues still atop the speakers). ------------------ 2 * Heresy 2 (mains) 2 * Homemade horn speakers (rears) 1 * REL Strata 3 sub Accuphase E211 amp.
