Weren't Altec's considered top of the line around the 70's? That is a bass bin, half of a A7 setup that uses a horn on top or inside. Here is a factory pic with the horn inside. I veneered them in walnut, make the solid walnut frames for the grills and added the solid walnut pedestals. They are some of the most musical and efficient speakers (104dB) I have ever owned.
