"My list would include my favorite, still to this day, Allison Ones. "

Can't say they are my faves, but I am pleased to own a pair!

I haven't seen mention of a couple of my all-time favorites:

Altec Voice of the Theatre (e.g., A7).

Altec AlNiCo 604 duplex drivers (e.g., 604B)

Quad "57" electrostatics (I finally have acquired a pair of these)

KEF 105

Edgarhorn Titan

(PS I have no idea why the spacing of the above is so whacky)

Forget it. I tried to post a picture of some total crap Fisher speakers from the 1980's, but I couldn't get the picture to post correctly (it just shows one of those little computer image tricolored boxes with an X in it). Anyway, so much for joking around.

Andy

I just had trouble myself with the Revel Salon2's. So I posted the Living Voice's instead.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Dahlquist DQ-10s. I have not heard as many speakers (recently) as I'd like, and I don't trust much to audio memory. If I had to rank the DQ-10s it would be near the bottom of a short list, not even 10. The original Beveridge is the only speaker I felt could top the Klipschorn. I think the Beveridges are being made again, albeit improved. Price/performance, the Klipschorns are still the bargain of the high-end.

My favorites would have to be the few special super dream systems I have heard:

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Nearfield Pipedreams

Advantegarde Trios

Martin Logan Summits

All of them coupled to equipment costing as much as a small house. Since I auditioned the Classic Audio Reproductions Cinema Ensemble and loved it, probably would include their mammoth Hartsfield reproduction too.
