OT: Who is going to the Superbowl?

When it comes to greatest lists, ask yourselves why they are so skewed towards the present especially regarding the NFL?  The rules have changed so much it becomes impossible to directly compare, even just since the 70's.  In MLB, Babe Ruth still stands out because he is perhaps the greatest and because there is way more of a direct comparison between past and present.  The DH is about the only truly major change we have seen.

Yea I see your point. The newer rules, longer season, more athletic players. It's basically touch football for the QB. But all the players are bigger and faster.

Babe Ruth ate hotdogs and drank beer during a game, nowadays it's PEDs :D Look at the group of great players that aren't sure they'll make the HOF….Bonds, McQuire, and a few great pitchers.

I just admire Manning. While in Indy, there was a story almost weekly about him doing something for kids or a charity. Sending semi trailers filled with water and goods to Katrina the day after it happened. He never seemed to like the praises put on him. Payton, Eli, and their Dad came up with a 20 million dollar donation to a kids hospital here, that's serious money. My wife had a pre-k student with leukemia, Payton gladly gave him autographed footballs, jerseys, and pictures with him at The Peyton Manning Children's Hospital. There's always good stories around him (until lately)

With all the stories about other athletes…drugs, fights, and all the thug mentality, it's refreshing to see someone do good for others.

JJ Watt seems like another good guy in sports I admire.

Oddly enough as a counter Armstrong started a do good foundation as well.  But the focus of this post is to agree with you about good intentions versus thuggery.  Admiration is given where it is due in that sphere.  Hey, it's all in good fun, we are talking sports, not busting bottles for a bar fight, luckily enough for Colin.  (smilie face etc lol).

Our local basketball team, the Pacers had a very tough time of it about 10 years ago, after a huge fight with the Pistons. Players fighting fans in the stands didn't seem cool. They had an episode weekly with that team, bar fights, hookers, guns, stabbings, numerous arrests, a real group of thugs. It really hurt their image. Larry Bird showed up as coach, then president and got rid of the bad seeds. It took 5-6 years to build the fan base back.

Hell, Houston is officially in the off season.  First order of business, fire the special teams coach.......DONE!  If they don't get another QB in the off season there'll be a riot in H-town.

I've never seen so much action for coaching spots than what's going on right now.

You're buying the burgers this year then.

You better believe it!

Larry Fitzgerald OWNED the field tonight. That was one hell of a performace with nearly 200yds catching the football. Then that great walk off the shuffle pass play to clinch the game on OT.

If you've been paying any attention this week, you know most everyone under the meager winter sun is picking the Patriots to win in Denver. There are, however, a few brave souls pointing to an upset by Team Peyton. Those predictions are based largely on the fact that the game will played at Mile High, where 1) Tom Brady is 2-6 lifetime, and 2) the Broncos -- like any other home team -- are more formidable. If the game were being played in Foxborough -- where the Sunday forecast calls for potential snow and a temperature in the 30s -- even the bravest Broncos believer would be feeling the cold chill of the Sheriff's grim reality in freezing conditions.
