nod
The banana jacks on my Klipsch "Chorus" speakers, are broken off. I need to find exact replacements.
Kriton
I enjoyed your post - very terse; short and to the point - but what do you want? Are you looking for someone to offer replacements, or comment on where you can get replacements? Or are you just wanting to vent your frustration for not being able to locate exact replacements or the fact that you (or someone) busted them off in the first place? Personally, I think the binding posts on older Heritage are weak parts (busted one off myself), and I would suggest you replace them with heavier duty all metal binding posts that you could find on Parts Express (www.partsexpress.com). They are cheap-ish and a good upgrade that will not break very easily. Just my 2c. K
WMcD
You should call 1-800-KLIPSCH and ask for the parts department. If they don't have replacements they may have suggestions. I'm not familiar with the Chorus. Are these on a cup type recess? It could be that the crossover board is attached behind it. That could cause problems. You should let all here who can help know exactly what broke. Photos are a big help, of course. Best, Gil
Coytee
The banana jacks on my Klipsch "Chorus" speakers, are broken off. I need to find exact replacements. Would the exact replacements need to be broken too? [] []
Kriton
I beleive the Chorus did have a recessed cup, and I am relatively certain that the crossover would have been on the cup, but replacement of the binding posts that I have done on my speakers with the cup crossover was pretty easy, either the positive and negative were held on with washers and screws around an eyelet, or (minimally) soldered on the post - which can be easily removed with a desoldering tool and resoldered - I would clean or rough up the connection just to remove any corrosion (which is just me being picky) and solder the joint carefully - so as not to run solder into the crossover components and or melt the cup (can you tell I accomplished each?) The new parts express binding posts were of course larger and beefier than the stock, so I had to enlarge the holes in the plastic washers at the cup, easily accomplished with my trusty Dremel and a fine file - and a bottle of Labatts during Star Trek reruns. Worked well, looks good and the beer was a bonus. Oh, and I have some broken replacements - if you need them exact (Coy you instigator). Lostinozz
Who is this Banana Jack guy and why did he break it off with you?
whamo
I like the gold plated ones from parts express. That's what I have on my cornwalls and heresys. I saved the old ones in case I ever decided to sell them. Fat chance.
mas
I think that I would go with Kriton's suggestion on this one. Given the opportunity, and the fact that you have already demonstrated how easy it is to break the stock jacks, going with the heavier duty all metal jacks from PartsExpress would be a good move. But then again, I routinely lose debates with my cat...(hey, he's a smart cat!) So do whatever works best for you.[]
Groomlakearea51
I'm glad mas said something about the cat forum... I talk this stuff over with my cat too; he tries to steal my Sam Adams, but generally without success... Maybe these cats somehow communicate.... In any event, if you absolutely have to have the "original" jacks, I have a pair of old Heresy-II cups with the jacks (crossovers were removed and mounted on a board by Bob Crites) that I will probably never use. You are welcome to them. That being said, make sure you follow Kriton's advice and instructions re: solder vs the plastic.... Lemme' know by email if you want them.
