Coytee
I've done this before, so if you think it rings a bell, it might. My wife wants to sell her Rolex. It's not been worn since a full servicing of it BY Rolex. Retail was about $5,600 and she's asking $3,600 plus shipping. It's a ladies 18kt/stainless steel datejust, "Serti" diamond dial, Oyster band. She's in jewlery sales and has ALWAYS kept not only the watch clean, but more importantly, the band clean. Grit getting inside a band is the worst thing you can do for a band. That is what works on wearing out the links and "stretching" the band as it reams out the holes. It would make a good Xmas gift. Might even get you permission to obtain your own set of Jubilees??? If any interest, you can make mention here or PM me. perhaps we could take a collection & give it to Amy? toddvj
Did your wife spend more than $3600 for it? Somehow I think she's making a profit. Good luck selling it, though.
wuzzzer
I think I chimed in before when you posted this for sale, and I'll do it again! This is a great deal on a very feminine, beautiful timepiece! The price that Coytee is asking is virtually identical to dealer cost. Rolex watches have the lowest markup of any watch company that I've ever dealt with. The fact that Rolex just serviced the watch means that it would be almost impossible to tell it apart from a brand new watch. The refinishing that Rolex does to the exterior of their watches is the best I've ever seen from any watch company, and it usually costs at least $300. The dial is actually called the White Jubilee Serti. From a distance it looks like an interesting texture on the dial, and then up close you can see the word 'Rolex' imprinted horizontally and vertically on the dial. Its definitely one of the most captivating dials that Rolex makes. (By the way I'm the timepiece specialist at the jewelry store where I work, and we are an authorized Rolex dealer) [Y]
Coytee
Mark, yes you did/have and thank you for the clarification comments & details. I also understand the Serti dial is something like a $1,500 upgrade? (I'm not sure but that's my memory). This could in fact be put in a showcase with 100% new watches and there is NO WAY you could tell it was ever tried on, much less worn. Pics of the hiney are at home, I'll try to get them up tonight. I didn't think anyone would really care to see the hiney side. On the face of the watch, took me a while to notice it really said "ROLEX" all over it. I thought it was just a texture for the longest time. She doesn't wear it because she simply prefers another watch (Baum Mercie (sp??)). It's really as simple as that. She prefers her Baum watch and figures why have this just sitting here gathering dust. Perhaps this is an opportunity where someone could get their wife/better half a "White Jubilee Serti" and then get permission to get their own "Black Klipsch Jubilee"... the old "One Jubilee for you, TWO Jubilees for ME..."?? Coytee
Did your wife spend more than $3600 for it? Somehow I think she's making a profit. Good luck selling it, though. I honestly have ZERO idea how much she has it it, just as she has no idea how much I have in the Jubilees/MC-2102/Peach..... Read what Wuzzer said and perhaps his non-biased thoughts might allow you to belive this is at minimum, a fair offer. Heck, knowing it's 100% real Rolex is worth something nowdays, with all the fakes out there. I suppose though, I shouldn't wait for your check in the mail? Sorry Clarence, the markup on Rolexes is less than 100%. And Coytee, yes, the diamond dial is $1500 extra on a ladies Rolex Datejust. Like I said, the price is virtually cost, plus add the factory servicing to the price that Coytee's wife paid for. Rolexes hold their value better than any watch you can buy, except for a handful of extremely limited edition watches such as Patek Philippe. If you don't like the price, don't buy it! I'm just hear to tell you that Coytee's asking price is extremely fair.
