Kain Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Okay, I was planning on getting the RSW-12 for my home theater, which is going for about $1,300 brand new, when I noticed the new Reference subwoofers on the Klipsch website. My room is about 14x11 and I listen to it LOUD. How do these three subwoofers compare to one another and which do you think is best? Unfortunately I won't able to demo any of them so I must rely on your feedback. Quote
TNRabbit Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I bought an RT-12d in Dec 06 as part of a complete RF-83 surround system. It is a pretty awesome sub. I've been very happy with mine. However, I was a little disappointed when I recently heard the JL Audio F113 & G113. OMG! I've NEVER IN MY LIFE been so impressed by a sub. The prices are astronomical, but nobody comes close to their capabilities. They also sell a F112 which is a little cheaper, but still way outside the deep discounts you can get an an RT-12d from the dealer. Quote
happybigalow Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I just bought an RSW-12 from a dealeron line, not sure if its an authorizedKlipsch dealer, but they were an actual store and seemed reputable. They had them on clearance, I got the sub for $620.90 delivered to mydoor, two days ago and have been rockin' out ever since. Shippingonly took 3 days and everything was doubleboxed. Very happy. Not sure if i can say who they were in here but ifyou email me i will forward the link. I actually discovered themthrough Amazon.com which from experience they always back theirvendors products/transactions, but when I went to the vendors website, they had just marked them down even further. Couldn'tpass it up! Quote
TheEAR Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 You know I could post a few pages worth of info on each,as I have both. To make a long story short, the RSW12 is a better sub if you like SLAM and do not listen to music with too much information below 25Hz. The RT-10d while not much more capable under 25hz(as it rolls off from there sharply)is more linear down to 25Hz,and is more flat. The auto EQ feature is also a plus. Depends at what price you can get each. Both are quality subs, the RT-10d being more linear,RSW12 has more slam. JL Audio forget it,price is over double and triple. Not a real competitor Quote
Kain Posted January 26, 2007 Author Posted January 26, 2007 Thanks! But how does the RW-12d compare to the RSW-12? Quote
TheEAR Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 RT-12d is the replacement for the RSW15,so it will have more output across its operating range compared to the RSW12. In this case the clear winner for HT use is the RT-12d. Quote
TheEAR Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Not RT-12d but the RW-12d. RW12d,lesser sub all around. You will be better served by a RSW12 or RT-10din any application,HT or music...I would pass on the RW12d. Quote

Couldn't pass it up! I see that the vendor lists the sub as the "RSW-12B". What is the deal with the "B"? What did the box it came in say? Thanks - d Quote
Jay481985 Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 B stock is not A stock meaning there might be visual flaws on the order of scratches etc..... It works just fine but it might not look brand new. Quote
kelA Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 According to Colterphoto from a post questioning the B on a RSW12, if it is listed in the serial number that way the B stands for black. The post was titled 'RSW12 PRICE', first posted on Dec 20 I think. Search a few pages back for the topic. Quote
