bluebrawn
I am ready to use 18 gauge wire to hook all of these speakers up...Any comments or objection to this? I know they are 12 gauge accomodated, but is that not too low from the source?
silversport
I would use 16 or 14GA...good luck with your choice... Bill
tommyboy
I use 16 gauge myself
TNRabbit
That depends entirely on the length of the wires between amp & speaker and how much wattage you intend to run through them.
bluebrawn
The wattage is around 100w and the run is approximately 15 feet. I ask only because the manual for the CDT-5650-C states 18 gauge minimum, but I usually use 16. Less gauge if the run is longer, correct? Less resistance? tenzip
I think you might have the gauge scale mixed up in your mind. If the manual says 18ga is the minimum, then 20ga would be unacceptable, but any larger wire (16, 14, 12, or 00 welding cable) would be acceptable. If you are putting this in wall, I'd go with 12ga, just to make sure you have the capacity for upgraded equipment later. Actually, I'd probably go with 12ga just on general principles. oldtimer
You are right. I would stick with a minimum of 16ga and use fatter when possible.
Roc Rinaldi
............use fatter when possible. Fatter? Way too technical of a term.
