I ask only because the manual for the CDT-5650-C states 18 gauge minimum, but I usually use 16. Less gauge if the run is longer, correct? Less resistance? tenzip Posted March 1, 2007 Share Posted March 1, 2007 I think you might have the gauge scale mixed up in your mind. If the manual says 18ga is the minimum, then 20ga would be unacceptable, but any larger wire (16, 14, 12, or 00 welding cable) would be acceptable. If you are putting this in wall, I'd go with 12ga, just to make sure you have the capacity for upgraded equipment later. Actually, I'd probably go with 12ga just on general principles.
