tommyboy
Is it worth the price of a DVI wire vs. component? What is the advantage/ difference?
dr venkman
Unforunately, I haven't found a straight answer on this. Component is analog, and DVI is digital. But quality-wise it depends on how long your cable is and what your sources are. The best thing to do is buy a DVI cable and compare it. You can find them pretty cheap online. http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.com/hdmi-cable.html

Guest BobG
If you have a new Digital TV and a video signal that is digital, it should be better to maintain the video signal in its digital form all the way to the TV rather than convert it to analog (component, S-video or composite) only to have the TV reconvert it to digital. wuzzzer
If you'd like to find out for not very much money, order your cable from www.monoprice.com. I bought a 3 foot HDMI to HDMI cord that came to about $7 with shipping.
Arky
I bought 3 of those myself.

hwatkins
Just a quick note - even digital connections are in some way being converted. No two TV engines do this the same way (yet). That means (to me) that you should consider side by side testing. On most all newer TVs this is becoming a non issue - most folks will have a hard time telling any difference. On some of the older sets the digital to digital was interestingly, and obviously, worse (don't ask me why...).
