tommyboy
Do any have your friends/ aquantances share the same "passion" about home audio as you? None of mine do. they all think I'm crazy for spending so much $$$$ on my setup. I do have a few friends into car audio, but none for home audio. And before they met me, none of them had ever heard of Klipsch.
Frzninvt
My sister's are not to happy with me because I started both my brother in laws in building up their HT's, 2-Channel set ups, and their car audio. They probably dread my calls and emails because it usually means they will be spending more money. When I tell people I have over $30K in my HT I get that deer in the headlights look. [:|] But I don't have a boat, snowmobile, 4-wheeler, or fancy sports car. My hobby is enjoyed every day despite the weather or time of year and it is enjoyed by all. Even my 5 year daughter can run the whole system herself! Her movies look and sound incredible on it. I have HT's in both bedrooms and the basement as well. No shortage of entertainment. colterphoto1
My friends bring their wives over to see my collection so that THEY don't look as obsessed with this stuff. And yes, they're nearly as sick as I am. Nearly...[8-)] Thanks for your help this afternoon Roger! Michael

Guest " "
Most of the folks I know spend their extra time and money hitting the casinos in atlantic city trying to hit the mother payload. With the money I saved not doing the casino gig, I have some gear to show for it.
tommyboy
I was at work the other day, and one of my co-workers said he had just ordered 7 golf clubs, and it was about 1,500 bucks. For 7 of them. I said, and you guys make fun of me for investing in my system. (I don't golf ) He said ya, but my clubs will last a lot longer than your system will. I just looked at him and smiled. People seem to think that speakers/ gear will only last a few years I guess.
Arky
I play golf. A new top of the line set will run close to $4000. Toss in a $6000 golf car, $7500 for country club initiation fees & $400 for monthly dues & it gets expensive quickly. One ball costs $4 & may last 18 holes. Tell them audio is a bargain concerning longevity.
HatTrick66
I have a few that are, and I think it is cool that this hobby can go in so many directions. One of my friends has gotten into vinyl, and he is also putting his CD's on a music server lately. Another one of my buddies is totally into itunes and getting about a zillion songs on his ipod that he then also plays through his Klipsch reference 2 channel/HT setup. Plenty of room for all different types of obsession!! Everyone is welcome.
emperor ming
My freind Andy, about 21 years ago, when we were 16, he brought home a massive box with some mourdant short speakers in. about two months later a Marantz Amp and a Dual turntable appeared. Ever since then i have loved seperates and hifi. im quite lucky as i can drop in and out with upgrading. Sometimes i dont have my music playing for weeks. Sometimes, quite a lot. Obviously at the moment im looking forward to getting my new Klipsch speakers. As Ive never been satisfied with the ones, ive already owned. I realise that Im not into the british hifi sound. Its a more neutral sound, i kind of call it lifeless. I like musicality, power and drama. And its from all the many reviews, since I bought my little Trends Amp, that have led me here. with words of that same vein, being spoken about Klipsch. So after the speakers, and a new goldring Stylus, and Nordost blue heaven, inters for me CD player, and the sub, im hopefully satisfied for a few years, and will spend it on vinyl and CD's. But i always go back to my old freind Andys, and thank that he bought that setup, as we both love listening to music. I helped him buy some great Tannoy DC2's , they have a concentric driver, and a supertweeter on top of the box. They image really well. but are low sensetivity, 89db. hence the move towards K's for me. Most my family think im obsessed with hifi. little do they know, Im not that bad, yet. musics something i love, so its always worth it, either making or listening
wuzzzer
My best friend Brian turned me on to audio, especially Klipsch. He had a nice setup in his room at his parent's house complete with Sony LaserDisc player and all. Unfortunately he allowed his wife to purchase their last home theater setup and she ended up coming home with a Sony HTIB and a 42" Sony LCD tv. The HTIB was pretty much like Bose cubes, not too exciting. They are now separated and getting divorced and I have a pair of KLF-30s at my house awaiting him getting his own place. Audible Nectar
I have several out here who have been addicted. I have a habit of spilling my "extras" over to friends: I have given several pairs of Klipsch and other accessories to friends as gifts and so forth, and every pair is well appreciated. In one case, a system is made up of Cornwalls driven by VRDs and a JuicyMusic Peach, I have an HT enthusiast in Seattle with a full R-7 system, several here locally with smaller setups, too. Many of my friends are into music, generally speaking.....so addicting them to Klipsch was pretty easy. I have also cured them all of "big box store disease". When they need something audio system related, they just call me......
michael hurd
I have a good friend that may be even more addicted than me...... I would estimate that he owns about 4000 cd's or more, a pair of K-horns, walnut Belle's, racks full of equipment.... sick.... just sick.... I would hesitate to put a $$ number on it all, but it is definately up there, probably triple what I made last year. Another fellow I know has 5 Chorus II in his living room driven by Yamaha professional amps and Bryston. And of course my other non-audio friends shake their heads, I have to remind them I don't own a snowmachine, a boat, a quad, or hunt. They have been known to pick up their jaw off the floor during a demo... hehehehe....

Ordered in popularity (highest first) Don't care and think I'm insane Think they have an amazing system (HTIB) Want me to help them convert to something higher end Old school fanatics just like me It's really a shame but true []

As far as friends go, everytime I meet someone new I am introduced as the guy with the bad### home stereo system. I have a couple of friends trying to talk me into a 300 dvd release party. I am thinking about it.

I've heard a rumor that they redid a couple of theaters there with Klipsch speakers. Now, one of my top goals when I go back home is to go watch a movie there. I don't even care what movie it ends up being. I just wanna hear a TRUE Klipsch theater!!!
InVeNtOr
i have no one! [:'(] all the people i work with call me "worm." it's bad enough i love building computers and stuff like that, i am into home audio too. my lead is the typical southern "redneck" who owns (no kidding) $20,000 in snap on tools, has a $40,000 jeep that is 20 feet in the air, guns, and lots of stuff like that. he calls me crazy. him and me are friends at work, but we have nothing in common, you won't see us drinking beer bar-be-qing any time soon. i will say he does has a nice tool collection and his jeep is Bad A**, but everyone i know is not into ht, computers, or anything electronical. to tell you the truth, it's kinda lonely.... HarryO
One of my closest friends here in Indy is as bad as I am about audio. He is married and his wife has made him downsize considerable to home theater only in the last year. He calls me all the time from garage sales and flea markets letting me know about gear available. He's running a Bose HT and big Denon digital. A couple of months ago he offered me his Nissan truck. My old work van has seen better days and he knew I needed another work vehicle. He priced it to me at a very low price and I told him yes on the deal. About 10 minutes later I fired up a Mc275 through my Cornwalls and the deal was off. He had to have the Cornwalls. We did the trade and he had me hold the speakers for about a week until he figured his wife would be cool with more audio equipment. We set up the Cornwalls as fronts and when his wife got home the sh.. hit the fan. Her comment was "what do you want those ugly things for?" I had the remote for the Denon and fired the Cornwalls up. Speechless for about 15 minutes her next comment was "I see why you want those". Last week His wife bought a pair of my Heresys for the rears. She now is the Klipschaholic of the family. Amazing what a good pair of horns can do to a music lover. Wait until I hit her with tubes! HarryO
oldbuckster
One friend into Scott....Heresy's.....after he sold his La Scala's.....now the Sub woofer, no Sub woofer begins....Just me and him in the equipment game, most our friends would rather just listen to ours, instead of gettin' their own stuff...for whatever reasons..he has 2 Scotts, one NOSvavled, the other sitting out there waiting his turn for NOSvavling, an old SS McIntosh amp, Forte II's in his basement, KG4's, KG1's, a Kenwood SS intergrated amp, which I wish I hadn't sold to him, a turntable (yuk), and other assorted goodies. The area we differ in, Home Theatre, I like mine, he has no use for HT, the Analog, Digital differences stir conversations, but I like Digital, he does not.............but, He likes the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, so baseball season is fun.............It's just a hobby anyway......won't solve the problems of the world, just makes it easier to deal with.................EH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems I have a few friends on here though................
