Are there any dvds recorded 98khz 24bit sound? Because there is an indicator on my dvd player for it but it never lights up. So I assume that there are not any dvds recorded in this format. Or am I wrong? If so what am I doing Wrong?

P.S. I have tried both pcm no and yes.

I think there are, but they might not be common. Read some DVD player reviews (hifichoice.com, sterofile.com, hometheatre.com, etc.) and see what DVD's they use to evaluate the players. They will tell you if they use higher bit rate audio.

I think that should be 96Khz. Lots of the audio production software (Nuendo, Cubase, Sonar, etc.) and hardware will record 16/24 bit with sampling rates from 44.1 to 96Khz.

I have an AWESOME DVD called CHRONOS by the director Ron Fricke(famous for Baraka & Koyaanisqatsi). It is a visual treat with no dialog. Experimental camera techniques such as high-speed exposures being the main technique used. My Outlaw 1050 A/V receiver recognizes the 96mhs format fine. Another must-own DVD is Baraka. Beautiful stuff and a great soundtrack by Michael Stearns(who also recorded Chronos).
