Groomlakearea51
First German beer I ever tasted (legally....), 1971, stationed in the "Pioneer" Kaserne just up the street from the Porsche factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.
Groomlakearea51
In the world of mugs.... Present from my ex-ex-father in law (two WAF's back) in 1975. From Henninger Brauerei in Frankfurt; pewter top, etc. Alot of breweries in the US are also making "mugs" in the traditional style. Most seen one is the Budweiser. Groomlakearea51
Ah yes, the days!! many units "commissioned" mugs for personnel assigned to the unit. The US Military Liaison Mission in Potsdam (That's East Germany during the Cold War....) was no exception. We "visited" and "liaised" with Soviet and East German units at odd hours..... Groomlakearea51
So much for the virtual historic tour through the wonderful world of German Breweries!![8-|] Interesting factoid: Before the Prohibition act, there were over 2300 breweries in the US. Prohibition and believe it or not, WW-II doomed the majority. Until fairly recently, there were only about 160 major breweries nationwide. They are making a comeback, especially the micro's. [] Buy American!! There's some really good brews out there!!! Enjoy a cold one!!! Don't drink and drive!!! Cheers!!! [H] and I think I'll check the fridge!! 'bout 3 minutes to "Miller Time"!!!
