DVD's from bargain bins-sticky mess

Recommended Posts

I've been getting a lot of DVD's from Walmart's bargain bins. Problem is when I remove the security stickers on the edges, it leaves a sticky residue. Any tricks to removing this sticky mess?

I've had excellent results using regular old mineral spirits. Since it dries fairly quickly, it has even removed sticker residue from digipak cd's.

Has never failed me or caused an issue yet!

A product called, real name, Goo-Gone works great...works on pine pitch on cars......

Good stuff OB i had some sap on my hands from Cypress tree seeds and tried everything, even gas, I asked Christy and she said try this, Goo-Gone , the sap came off first try.

Goo Gone stinks, though. I wouldn't want my DVD collection to have permanent Goo Gone smell.

Go Gone could cloud the plastic. Try some alcohol or WD 40. Rubbing alcohol is almost or maybe even more versatile than WD40 or duct tape.

Tried the mineral spirits with limited success. I'll try rubbing alcohol next.

Just an FYI. Wal-Mart has a $3.98 promo right now that has some newer Widescreen movies like Nacho Libre, World Trade Center, and a bunch more I can't remember. Watch out though there are a bunch of Foolscreen versions as well.

No doubt, I had had tape residue left over on my arm from an IV awhile back. It seemed like it would never come off untill I used rubbing alcohol on it. That stuff is hard to get off the skin.

MEK maybe?

NO NO NO..... Colter I think your joking but just in case your not. Yes it is great at removing Goo off anything it will melt plastics and remove paint as well.

I used to just about bath in that stuff. We us to use it alot. It will clean just about anything and evaporates very fast leaving little to no residue. It really messes up your head if you breathe the fumes for too long. Believe me I have spent way to much time crammed in a fuel cell cleaning tape residue with that stuff. Its not called Methel Ethel Bad Sh!t for nothing.

Lighter fluid (the kind you would use to refill your Zippo) works well, it does not leave an oily residue like WD40. Does a great job with adhesive residue.
