jt1stcav
I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but I would also keep an eye out at local music stores that accept used gear as trade-ins for new instruments/equipment, or for cash (such as Guitar Centers do). Also try checking out area pawn shops...man, this is a terrible thing to happen! Sure hope the a$$clowns responsible are caught and the gear recovered. I hate it when people simply take what doesn't belong to them...in some cultures when a thief is found guilty of a crime, doesn't the courts cut off their hands? I hate it when people simply take what doesn't belong to them...in some cultures when a thief is found guilty of a crime, doesn't the courts cut off their hands? It there is a police report, it is supposed to be entered into a statewide database, all pawn shops and "2nd hand" store owners, which wolud include a store such as guitar center that takes in trades, has to enter all items take in pawn or trade. If they get a hit, they have to notify the LE agency that listed the items, and they have to be delieverd to that agency. Yes there are countrys that cut off the hands of thiefs. These are the same countrys that do not allow women to vote, and usually don't let anyone else to vote either, they publically beat women if they go outside without their face covered, prohibit the consumption of alcohol and do not allow the Bible to be brought into the country. Reference to several dates reflects the stages in thegranting of rights. It is not uncommon, in countries previously under colonialrule, for women to have been granted the rights to vote and be elected by thecolonial administration and to have had them confirmed at the time of accessionto independence. Similarly, it is not uncommon, in countries that were formerlypart of a federation and in which women were entitled to vote and be electedunder the federal legislation, for women to have had these rights confirmedunder the Constitution of the newly independent State. 2. In November 1955, Eritrea was part of Ethiopia. TheConstitution of sovereign Eritrea adopted on 23 May 1997 stipulates that"All Eritrean citizens, of eighteen years of age or more, shall have theright to vote." SilverSport
to enter into a nationwide database you need serial numbers and model numbers...manytimes these are not retained by the owner...hopefully these will turn up and the offenders caught...I am looking here in the Chicagoland area... Groomlakearea51
Dr. Bill, you have a PM reference a law enforcement only database that does not require serial numbers.
Groomlakearea51
Same Topic... Does anyone on the forum know of or recall any incidents involving the theft of a pair of oiled walnut Klipschorns with cane grills, likely stolen in Florida within the last year or two? If so, please PM me as soon as possible. I have a possible lead; suspect, location, photos, and at least one serial number, etc.
meagain
Seriously, you guys should post this on '2-channel'. Most people don't come to 'general'. Even for a peek.

jheis
Years ago when I reported the theft of a high end bicycle, the cop taking the report told me that (in the off chance that they actually recovered the goods) the serial number was of little use because they had no way of connecting the serial number to the owner (assuming they even bothered to look for a serial number). Instead, he suggested etching or engraving your driver's license number on any items likely to "go missing." That way, should the item be recovered, the cops have an easy way to locate the owner. Of course, this complicates things if you sell a piece of used gear 'cause you're also giving away your driver's license number....
