I seem to remember Quad, Brook, Leak, Marantz, Mcintosh, Lowther and many other interesting amps that I would love to demo. There was a Brook amp mod for the Khorn and one was on ebay last year if I remember it went for high dollars. I have always wanted to hear a push pull 2A3 amp. DrWho Posted July 26, 2007 Share Posted July 26, 2007 From what I understand about PWK's philosophy on audio reproduction, I think he would have picked the amp that was closest to straight wire with gain. That's vague in technical terms, but had he been an amplifier designer I've no doubt he would have sat down and found ways to quantify how close amps were in ways that correlated to how we hear. Nevertheless, this sounds like an interesting topic of discussion for a pilgrimage. It would be great to hear from those that knew Paul personally and could comment on his true feelings about things. I would expect that PWK would try to make sure his speakers worked well with what he knew people were purchasing at the time. Probably a wide variety of amps. No offense meant by this comment, but it also makes sense that he certainly tested the "rails"....the amps that might present the biggest problems to his new products.
