Jacksmarbs
Hi, Was wondering if anyone had any rec's for a/v receivers between 750-1000 dollar price range. Plan to hook it up to RB-5's and a velodyne ct-150 subwoofer. Thanks in advance
Kilowatter
I bought a Denon 3802 for $899 a couple of months ago and it is a great receiver. BrentMann
I'm getting ready to buy an Integra 7.2. I looked at the Denon 3802 myself, but decided on the Integra. Nothing stood out, but (in my humble opinion) the Integra is slightly better quality. Just my $0.02... toddvj
Pioneer Elite VSX-36TX. People never mention it, but it is an awesome receiver. Better than the 3802. You need a seperate amp for 7.1 though. 35TX if you want to stay closer to $750. Still better than the 3802.
boomer9911
Agreed on the Marantz "200 series", Denon, and Onkyo(Integra). There is one Dealer here for Denon(who never has stock), several Marantz and Onkyo Dealers. Sorry, but avoid Pioneer...IMO...I had an old Pioneer VSX9900S A\V Receiver(little brother to the VSX-D1S) back in 93, and the Elite back then was a work horse! Now, just as bad as the Sony ES series....lets just carry on the name brand so to speak. The build quality is "gone". To add, I have seen "3" Pioneer Elites traded in(yes he takes trades for some strange reason as a small independent dealer)for Marantz. As for Yamaha, the girlfriend has one, nice with Paradigms, but I pass, seems to be the bike name, if it isn't a HD............
Klipsch-daddy
How about a Yamaha rx-v1000. I just recently purchased it from my dealer for 640.00 plus tax. soundog
The Outlaw 1050 A/V Receiver is great sounding, top rated, award winning and made of heavy duty top quality components, if you don't mind spending less than you wanted to. ------------------ Soundog's HT Systems
Klipsch-daddy
yea, but for a little more cash he can get alot better features, dsp's and power. I am not saying the outlaw is a bad receiver, but aren't they a pretty new company. ------------------ Home Theater: Yamaha RX-V1000 Klipsch RF-3's Klipsch KSC-C1(LOOKING FOR A RC-3 OR RC-3II) Klipsch Subwoofer KSW-12 Television: TOSHIBA THEATER VIEW 50" DVD Player SONY S-360 CD Changer CDC 509 5 Disc Yamaha comming soon. monster cable interconnects/12 gauge speaker wire

toddvj
Hey Boomer, what are you basing your opinion of the Pioneer Elite on? I hardly think that a receiver from '93 is more of a "Workhorse" than a current one. I don't know the Marantz, so I can't comment on which is better, but Denon in this price range is weak, and I don't think you can buy an Integra in this price range, just a Circuit City level Onkyo. IndyKlipschFan
If you want a warmer, more musical sound, that still has a LOT of punch also for home theatre... Denon 3802 ROCKS!!!!!! A Happy 3802 user...
RWMIN
Denon, Yamaha, Outlaw, Inegra, Pioneer Elite, ect... are all good HT Units. I think they will all be worth the money. Some of us like one over the other but again, I think all of them are worth the price. I have a Denon 3300 and I just love it.
hex21cc
I would have to go with the denon 3802 on this one.
hex21cc
BTW you can find the denon 3802 for $750. Do yourself a favor and get the 3802
Diggs
I also recommend the Outlaw 1050, and I own a Denon! Nothing against Denon, I love my 2800, but the Outlaw is a steal at $499. www.outlawaudio.com ------------------ Denon AVR-2800 KG-4 mains (too bad the rest of my speakers aren't this good) Polk C-175 center (it's ok) Infinity RS-10 Surrounds (suck) Audiosource SW-15 subwoofer (excellent sub for it's price) Pioneer DV333 DVD Sony 5 disc CD player All in a 12x12 apartment bedroom. boomer9911
Sorry for the late reply, but for Todd, I base it on ownership, I could look into the top of the units grills, and see capacitors, transformers, where size "does" matter(Marantz is alive, oh yes). Check out the Marantz 7200\8200\9200 at 4500K CDN) to the Marantz SR19EX, which would you go with...to me the Reference Series wins hands down...diecast, build quality PS. Like I said, IMO, Marantz, Denon, Onkyo go with Klipsch, your "Elites and ES's" are BS's....IMO This message has been edited by boomer9911 on 01-13-2002 at 02:51 AM
