oldbuckster
I see today that Steve Winwood and Eric Clapton will play 3 nights in New York City, Madison Square Garden, don't qoute me on location, in late Feb., that will be some show. Hope they use Claptons new Band, haven't seen them yet. You know they'll do a DVD out of those shows, which most of us will have to settle for, but that's fine. Very nice pair of "Hall of Famers" matched together, Great shows I bet, Great Shows ............
garymd
I saw Winwwod play with The Dead a few years back and he was as good as ever. I'm sure those two will not disappoint the high-paying crowds of baby-boomers. I'm guessing nosebleed seats to that show will exceed $100. I'd probably be there myself if I had the opportunity. Oh I'll have to pass on those, I'm 3 hours above the city, and the only smart way to go is by train, that prices me out of the picture. Would be a great show, how could it not, two Superstars, TRUE Superstars, wow. Those tickets will go so fast, you'll never know they were on sale. Madison Square Garden, the greatest stage in the world, what a great place to see them ........... It won't take long for the DVD to follow, that will do me just fine ...... Can't wait for Guitar Fest. 07 ..... Nov. 20 ....

JJkizak
Would Clapton's new band include Derek Truks and the Doyle guy? They were "kick ***" on the Crossroads DVD. JJK
askbob1
are you talking about doyle bramhall, the same guy who played with roger waters on the in the flesh tour?
jacksonbart
Great question, but given that they don't mention either person's name, I doubt it. Especially Dereck Trucks I really want to own Doyle Bramhalls The Great Wall of China Concert.
askbob1
yep, he plays a mean left-hander. he did a great job for waters as 'pretty boy floyd'.
JJkizak
Yes, Doyle Bramlhall. Clapton mentioned on the DVD that both were playing in his band. But he didn't say a new band. I am really jealous of those guitar players. They are skinny, have extroardinary hand-eye c0-ordination, can play just about anything, can improvise to infinity, and they seem to "pop up a new one every so often that you never heard of". That old guy with the black hat they had to help him walk to the stool. And then when you get about three or four of these guys on the stage playing together----who plays what and when? And how do they know what amp to plug into? The guy balancing the sound must be a magician. I thought the job they did on "Tulsa" was really great. And then how do you get two guys with two sets of drums to play together? JJK
oldbuckster
Doyle Bramhill and Derek Trucks are members of Eric's new line-up ........... I think it's great, some new young blood might kick Eric in the Backside, and put a little more rock in his music. I think EC has spent too much time playing with the standard Blues, and needs to Rock a bit more. Doyle's father was a Honk-Tonk style Drummer down Texas way I believe, and played on a few albums ..............and that Old Guy with the Black Hat is JOHNNY WINTER, and if you watched the Video, Derek Trucks was watching Johnny and grinnin' from ear to ear ........ and double drummers, most of Southern rock played with Double drummers ............. Outlaws, Allmans, even the DEAD had dual drummers ..............
