khorn bass bin - what was electro-voice thinking?

The electro-voice construction manuals for the Khorn bass bin clearly indicate that the design was licensed to Electro-voice by Klipsch.

But take a look at this ad. The flange that is normally associated with part of the area that should be tightly sealed into the corner is on the bottom. The top of the bass bin does not have the flange. Positioned at the bottom results in contact with the wall baseboard and as a result, no tight seal is possible as there will always be a gap equal to the distance of the baseboard molding.

Other klones such as Speakerlab, and ACR Eckhorn, correctly places the flange at the top of the bass bin so a tight seal into the corner is possible.

So are we making too much out of the need to seal this into the corner......would it work better flipped upside down as electro-voice has done?

You could always just trust those that have performed the measurements and already shown that the HF corner for the Khorn bass bin improves when properly sealed.

just a possibility, system was voiced with reduced driver levels to compensate, or maybe they were thinking coaxial , with LF eminating, ensconcing the mid hi subsystem?

for some people, that's a handicap.

Playing around with sealing the top of the base bin didn't work for me.

Things sounded better allowing the entire wall to contribute to the ceiling.

Removed the quarter round floor molding to get the bass bin tight to the

wall tightened things greatly.

I've noted the same result with KD2's.
