jamesV
As the title said, for my new '71 Cornwalls. I have a Yamaha that I had hooked up to my '81 Heresy and it sounds good with the Corns. I will be shipping the crossovers of the Heresy to Bob after the new year so I am looking now. I have seen on the bay some vintage stuff but I don't know which are better then others. I know everyone is going to say tubes, but for now a receiver will do. Thanks in advance, James
jpmgumdoc
Hey James, You're right. Everyone will say tubes! I've got 1980 Corns and ran them with mid level recievers from the likes of yamaha and denon for 25 years and thought they sounded good . Then I recently decided to try tubes and bought a used jolida 302 integrated and WOW what a difference. Actually has me back to just listening to music instead of watching the idiot box (even though it's a nice 61" high def idiot box) for the first time in many years. Dusting off the music collection and hearing things I never heard before! Jolida is a great value for intro tubes and great with Corns. Easy to get nice used on ebay or Audiogon for reasonable $$. 302 is best Jolida match to Cornwalls.

Bill H.
James, Here is an Ebay (Indiana) listing for a Sansui G4700 Receiver. I have a G5700 that sounds great. Good Luck http://cgi.ebay.com/VINTAGE-SANSUI-G-4700-PURE-POWER-DC-STEREO-RECEIVER-AMP_W0QQitemZ300184624891QQihZ020QQcategoryZ50596QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The Sansui's I have run across all seem to hold there age well, no knob or Pot problems, good sound. arfandbark
Let's not forget the Sansui 7070 and 8080. I've used both thru my '76 Cornwalls. Loved them. .
mcp
The H/K 430 and Marantz 2230 are real keepers as far as vintage SS receivers are concerned.

modoc48
A friend of mine has a Pioneer SX-1250, they are the "Holey Grail" of the old 70's era receviers. I run all Legend speakers and it sounded warm and full with the sometimes bright Legends.
Islander
Other than price, what's the attraction of a vintage receiver? I've had a number of receivers, all Yamahas (1975 CR-600, 1978 CR-1020, 1998 RX-V392, 2005 RX-V750, still using the 392 and 750) and believe me, the newer they were, the better they sounded. The improvements in clarity and reductions in distortion were quite noticeable. Are you just looking for a sound you're familiar and comfortable with? I currently have a Yamaha CR-1020 and like the sound with the Heresy and now the Corns. So that is what I am looking for in the one to take the Yamaha's place. I will use the Yamaha with the Heresy.
