BLSamuel
Decided it was time to bump this thread. This would be pretty soft compared to most of the amps posted here. But it's the best I can do. Finally found the replacement power switch and she's back in operation. Carver Premier AV705x Out side on cardboard so I could blow out the dust. Wasn't really too bad. Ben, that's a pretty nice little amp!! I have read a lot of positive things about it over the years... This old thread is very cool, I have alway loved to see audio gear "nudies"!! [] Thanks for reviving it... [Y]
RRFL
1975 Marantz 1200B rated @ 100w/ch 8ohms both ch driver 20 - 20k and actually delivers 28% above rating 10 - 40k. It was the highest powered lowest distortion integrated amp in the world at that time and an outstanding match for a pair of LaScala. nu2toobs
My next Amp is going to be one of these. The simplicity of Japanese art, with an old school look. Point to point wiring taken to another level.
tube fanatic
One of my local audio guys found a bunch of 7695s at a hamfest and talked me into prototyping a single ended/dual mono/separate power supply amp around them (he paid for all of the parts, so I couldn't refuse). It's 50s style construction (he didn't want to spend the extra $$$ for a chassis with a fancy wooden base, etc.) and sounds really amazing with his CWs. The power supply provides very highly filtered DC for the filaments as well as the B+. Hum is vanishingly low, bass output is huge, and it has the midrange and top end of a triode! I came close to paying him for the parts and keeping it, but then he would have stopped talking to me!!!
Islander
The Yamaha MX-D1 Class D 500Wpc dual-mono amp. The dual power supplies are in the left section, while the dual amp sections are at lower centre and lower right. It runs quite cool, so the only heat sinks are the black bars at the rear of the amp sections. The power switch is at bottom centre of the picture. The 12V trigger input is at the back, along with the XLR and RCA inputs. The outputs are premium WBT connectors that accept up to 8AWG speaker cables. They're just visible at the top of the picture. The chassis is copper-plated steel. A pair of these amps (one for bass, one for treble) is driving my JubScalas. They have never been opened. I found this picture on Audiokarma. JJkizak
I kind of wonder about how tight those components are stretched wired. Bell labs, Western Electric, and NASA don't like that very much. But I did like the way Tecktronics wired their scopes. On the other hand Fisher was one of the worst Iv'e seen. JJK
