guzzo Posted May 22, 2008 Share Posted May 22, 2008 something has gone wrong with my promedia 4.1 subwoofer, amp or control unit. the power light will not illuminate on the control unit under my speaker and the speakers obviously dont get any power to produce sound. does anyone know what could have caused this? in any case, i still want to use the satellite speakers (minus the woofer i suppose) powering them with a surround sound receiver and perhaps adding a ksw 10 for the low end. thoughts anyone? is there a big difference between my promedia 4.1 satellites and those from the quintet series? it will be used in my girlfriends living room, i plan to run it in 3 channel dolby pro logic (older receiver) so i would end up with an extra satellite. They can throw a good distance, but aren't Quintets. I have both, and both setup for HT use. Difference is my Promedia's are setup in a really small room. I'm under 6' from the TV screen and front speakers. Which is what THX says is the limits for Multimedia/Desktop http://www.thx.com/products/home/logos/index.html Your millage may vary. There is a noticeable in build quality. If anything it seems people upgrade from the Promedia speakers to the RSX line. I have to disagree with this. The Quintet 2's are the same mains as in the ProMedia 2.1, 4.1 and 5.1. That being said - yes - they shine their best in nearfield environments... ranking against the likes of Genelec for nearfield production work. (0.95kg) 3" woofer Promedia 4.1 Satellite: 8.5" (21.59cm) x 4.2" (10.67cm) x 5.67" (14.4cm) 4lb 3.5" woofer If the Quintet II's are like my III's they are vented vs sealed. Don't forget, the 5.1/Ultra center is single woofer, the quintets are 2". As I mentioned, they differ, the quintets are meant for a living room, and promedia's are meant for nearfield.
