Sound quality RF 52

Recommended Posts

I bought a brand new Rf 52 floor stander last year. I was pretty happy with it. Recently i added a new Playstation 3 to my set up. I already had a ONKYO 605 receiver.

Now I am not very happy with the music quality while playing CDs. Movies are fine.

While playing CDs the high sounds sound a bit crackling at high volumes, I am not sure. Is there something wrong with my main speakers??

Please advice.

Thanks

If you haven't already, try connecting a digital optical cable to the 605 and assign it to cd on the Onkyo. I listen to most of my cd's with an optical connected to my 705 and use the HDMI for watching movies when using my HD-DVD player. Never skips, pauses, and generally sounds better to me. Also bipasses the TV all together.

Hey, I have a YamahaRX-V661, I have never heard my RF - 52 crack pop or anything......I have only pushed them extremely one time, and even then Never a crackle, the amp went into overload protection mode before the speakers gave out. Keeping that in mind.....I never have to turn my speakers up past -30 db to get a loud volume.

I am more than satisfied with their sound quality. People say that they have no bass, but I think that is beacause of there amp (may be a cheap 200 amp/receiver). These things pound loud and clear without any distortion.....I don't even have to use my sub because they handle almost every low note possible. I know I am speaking highly informal but I am not writing and disertation :-)... and when you say loud volumes, that sounds to me like your receiver is clipping, with can and will burn out the tweeter/horn. Could be eq issue, power issue, amp issue, but I highly doubt your speaker is bad.

Xbox360 (optical)

PHillips dvd player (digital COAX)

rf-52 mains

rb-10 rears

Rc- 52 center

RSW-10 for the sub.
