wilbucd Posted August 13, 2008 Share Posted August 13, 2008 I'm looking for everyones favorite laid back rock instrumental songs as I'm planning to make a couple cd's. I'm not talking about Van Halen's Eruption kind of instrumental but rather something you can play on those rare occasions when you are the only one at home and don't have to worry about where the volume knob is pointing, lights off, crashed in your favorite chair. You know that kind of vegetative state of musical bliss we all strive for but rarely get to achieve. I know you all know what I'm talking about. I hate when that great instrumental song gets you in that frame of mind but there is only one of those songs on the album or cd you are playing. Most bands only include one of those instrumentals on an album so you are left swapping cd's or vinyl every song. I'll start out with some of my favorites and hopefully it will be the start of a long list of others. San Tropez by Pink Floyd of the Meddle album Savannah Woman by Tommy Bolin - Teaser Friends, In the Light - Led Zeppelin Lucky Man- ELP oh crud, it's got to be INSTRUMENTAL- I'll start again - but these are nice laid back tracks by otherwise heavy bands.... I think there's some Marshall Tucker Band jams that are in the ABB tradition, check their live stuff. Check out portions of Pink Floyd Ummagumma- David Gilmour's sections might interest you.
