Can't honestly answer your question, but if Kerry was voted in in 2004 a bottle of ketchup and a jar of pickles would be upwards of $10.00 by now. No but seriously, if function is for both television watching and movies there are good rear projection values out there(61"-65" DLP's for $1500-$1800).

Not a question that can be answered without more information - what's the intended use, how big is the room, can the light be fully controlled, etc... If all factors support it, I would always say a PJ over a TV for the sheer size/impact factor (after all, that's what the goal of home "theater" is, right?).

I think dollar per square inch of viewing area, a projector would be cheaper. That doesn't mean that it would be better in every application. You defininately need a dark room to get great blacks, or so I've read. It makes sense as blacks on a PJ are basically the lack of a projected image.
