Which reciever should I use?

I have a Yamaha HTR 5730 and I just bought a Pioneer VSX-D 509S . I am wondering which one I should base my system off of. I will be listening to music , and when I get everything together , as a home theater. I am using KG 1.5 as mains, SW-8 sub, SB-1 for surrounds and a KV-2 for a center.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I would have to agree with FenderBender. Hook them up one at a time and see which one you like better. Does one have pre-outs? So you could add an amp later on, if you so desire? Does one have a phono input, in case you want to hook up a turntable? I know my Pioneer VSX-41 does NOT have one, so I had to buy a phono pre amp.

So, see which one has the features you need or want. If they both have what you need, go with the one that sounds the best to you!

Good Luck and keep us posted!

My only other advice would be ....don't try to kill to many birds with one stone

no one system is going to be perfect and fill all needs....I tried and failed @ great expense......

Like Dennie said.....see which suits your needs best for a particular application

One may be more convenient for surround ....the other may sound better for two channel....in that case you could always get a switch box like thew Niles and share speakers with two separate systems.....

good luck and if your anything like I was you'll change your mind 100 times and go nuts....
