  1. would the R-5800-W II In-Wall Speaker mounted behind you be a better choice for surround sound or the ceiling speakers ?
  2. I have a an old but still working well speakers RF- 3II speakers with front back and surround sound speakers and a svs sub. But I moved to a new house with a real nice ceilings so instead of hanging the big box speakers on the walls I want to keep the front floor speakers and center speaker and sub and would like to put some klipsch ceiling speakers in the ceiling, can someone suggest which ceiling speakers would match with my old floor speakers or should I bite the bullet and buy all new?
  3. Latly when I start changing channels I get a large thump out of my SVS. now whats really weird is its not every channel - just some. I also hear this same THUMP-THUMP noise when I put in a cd or dvd. I'm thinking it might be my receiver - any thoughts or questions It's really annoying

    DVI vs RGB

Well, the television is a CRT- toshiba HDTV - and the set up box is a Samsung TS-160 direct tv HD Receiver - and I'm using the red, blue, and yellow component video cable. Both the receiver and the T.V. accepts both component cable or the DVI cable. (and I do have a dvd calibration for it but I don't recall the company) I guess since I have both DVI and RBY cables I'll try them both and SEE if I can detect any differance. I use to work for phillips years ago, making CRT's and would benchmark our CRT's against competitor's, my eyes are probably still calibrated enough to see the differance - I'll get back with my 2 cents worth on the differance in a CRT.

    DVI vs RGB

When I bought my hd samsung receiver - the salesman at ABC warehouse told me the RGB cables were the best for high definition - not the DVI cable that came with it. Now my friend is telling me the DVI cable is better than rhe 3 - RGB cables. Was I scammed?
  6. Well that might be the way to go I'm not to bad at wood working - and the place I work has lathes, bandsaws everything I need to make a wood ceiling holder for the speakers - I could even stain and shellac it to match the ceiling woodwork. however, I still would like to know how far apart the RS3-II should be, it looks like we've reached a consensus that they should be 5 to 7 ft high but how far apart should they be? And what's the proper placement of the Rear center channel - I was going to take a stab at about 6 ft high and 6 ft back. I guess I'm being lazy but I thought someone my have saw some specs somewere or know of a link. I know the speakers who's name we dare not speak has specs. I was hoping klipsch may have "in the perfect world" specs for placement. Just somthing to give me an area to shoot at.
  7. Here is a the floor plan of my living dining room area The cabenet is a good idea if I can find one that looks good from the back also. I see that the speakers should be around 7 feet high but how far to the left and right should they be? I'm wondering if I could "get away with" centering my TV in the room and hanging them from the walls - but that would be about 15 feet from the listening area. unless I hung them from the ceiling (anybody know of somthing I could buy for this?). I was thinking about buying a small cabinent for behind the coach for the Rear center RC3-II - again how far back should the rear channel be and how High? I really appreciate the help.
  8. Well that looks good but on one side I have a wall to hang the speaker on on the other side I don't. Could I buy somthing to hang the speaker from the ceiling? or a very tall speaker stand? If I try to center my T.V. more - how far can the rs3-II be from the couch - would 15 ft be to far?
  9. I finally got sub today and will try to get it all hooked up. could someone clue me in on the "proper" placement of the RS3-II? - I mean the the "ideal" placement - I probably won't be able to put them their but it would give me an idea were to start. Like how far apart should they be and how high? I have a Log home and the ceiling is made out of logs and knotty pine stained and shellaced - so i was thinking of hanging them with the speakers pointing toward the floor, would that be alright? I have and open floor plan and the walls are about 30 ft apart and that seems to far, And then I'd have to center my T.V. in the middle of the room - now it's offset in the corner. I would appreciate your thoughts- thanks
  10. Thanks to a member who steered me to an autherized dealer I picked up a pair of RF3 II for $600 - they even shipped them for another $40. Picked up a set of RS3-II for $390 also. so far into the system I went to $2390. However, I still might have to buy another RC3-II for the rear center channel. incedently I bought a YAMAHA HTR-5660 RECEIVER - intead of the HK (money issue). It sounded pretty good in the store. Did I do bad on my receiver choice? 9
  11. Ahh! if only I lived in the garden state - 6 ave says they don't ship. The good guys website says the RF3-II's are $499 a piece - but they do include shipping. Hookedontronics are currently out of stock but the guy says they should be in at the end of the month - so in the meantime I'll keep scouting - so far I ordered my YAMAHA HTR-5660 RECEIVER - $350 , SV16-46PCi - $700, and rc3-$250 inluding shipping I still need the RF3 II and the RS II I told my wife I'd keep the system under $2000 It doesn't look like I'm gonna make it - I'll be in trouble when she finds out.
  12. - my 2cents worth I run a scanning electron microscope with an X-ray attachment at work so a couple of years ago I compared 16 gauge electric Wire to 16 Gauge speaker wire. Neither had a measurable amount of contaminents in them. The speaker wire copper strands was about 75% thicker than the regular electric wire as I remember If I get a chance I'll do it again but I don't have any "monster" wire. You could use a Volt meter to measure resistance. I've "heard" that the thicker wire strands supposedly transmit lower frequencies better - if anyone knows why let me know.
  13. They must of had a sale at 6th ave just checked it out went back up to $799 But how do you like them? There a store near me that has the RF-35's, which I liked, but did not have the RF-3II's so far looking at the postings i've got one thumbs up for the RF-3II's any other replies?
  14. I was thinking about buying a set of RF-35 $660 for a pair then I saw the RF-3 II for $548 for the pair they both have the same frequency responce 37Hz-20Hz but the RF-3 II 150 watt maximam Ws 125 for the RF-35 I'm thinking about going eith the RF-35 because the woofers are magnetically sheilded and newer. however the RF-3 II are a little cheaper there online at hookedontronics is there much differance between them?
