Yes Ols Ears it was a riot in the seventies in Hope or so they say. Actually if you can remeber the seventies then you probably weren't there! The seventies that is.... Or the sixties, eighties or nineties either. And BTW: the real answer is: MWM = woofer (dual 15" horn loaded) MWM-S = woofer (single 15" horn loaded) MSSM = sub squawker (single 10" horn loaded) MSM = squawker (4 x 1 1/2" VC compression drivers manifolded onto horn) MTM = tweeter ( array of piezo horns) MMTM = cinema tweeter that pierced like a laser beam (4 x K77 tweeters mainfolded onto two horns) P Wilbur designed the manifolds which when completed was an audio engineering feat but as it was a "pro" (we called it "industrial" back then) product this feat was hardly recognised by audiophiles. Not only did the manifolds work but how they were made was yet another engineering feat. Were you there at those initial tests? If so then we probably know each other.
  2. Yes is your answer. Model number LS-LF. They are literally a La Scala without the mid and HF horn section. Sit them under the La Scala box and they "couple" and will throw LF at your chest like a round with Ali. PWK was at first mortified when he learned that La Scala boxes were actually getting sawn up to make the LF section. It took him no time to appreciate the value and put them into production. We have also used the MWM cabinets under La Scalas with awesome results.
  3. I've toured with many sets of beaten up La Scala systems or "scallywags" as we call them. Forget the tubes for your PA bro. They are good in your guitar amp. Get a Crown amp and make sure that your LS speakers are in good condition. Drive your amp with an Allen & Heath mixer assuming that a Midas console is out of your reach. Nirvana found!
  4. The JBL (junk but loud) project array is a different kettle of fish. Want to mod your Heresy's? Compete with the Jibbles? Find a cabinet maker to build you some cabinets to identically replace your Heresy's if the cabinets are so bad. Likely though they could be repaired and even with new veneers or glossy paint job. Don't like the woofers? Are they genuine units for your model? Reconed? What is their condition? That is probably a point to consider why you don't like them. If you absolutely must replace them then seek out a pair of Klipsch k42k or k42kp woofers. They are more sensitive, larger voice coil and longer throw which will likely give you the results that most people like you with a pair of HII's may be wanting in resultant performance. If you know about network design and have the facilities to test then you could "voice" the system. If not then find a pair of KP250W or O speakers and matching KP115 sub then enjoy awesome home theatre that the Project Array couldn't come close to.
  5. Actually in most cases when making this analogy about a Heresy you would be more accurate to say: "designing a Viper with parts from a Ferrari". If you were knew how Klipsch loudspeaker components are engineered, built and the manufacturing QC then you'd have an understanding of this. Most Klipsch engineers were taught this by PWK himself or by one of his understudies and they have the legacy to pass that on. Please take this lesson from someone who knows!
