  1. Since pics uploaded from iPhones always seem to be done in HEIC.... IMG_6309.HEIC
  2. I'm not sure "making fun of" was the thing; it's more the false information this guy usually puts about stuff. Like Klipsch buying parts from Speakerlab for many years, for instance. Even at the lower price, that's going to be a tough sell. SK's just don't go flying off the shelf that easily and that price will have to drop more. The guy takes the worst pictures ever of the same angles. Why can't he post pics of the back side to show if they're enclosed or not. Someone did actually build new tops for them, or did that in the beginning, as they never came as a "collared" top nor did the plans show that. That's what I'm doing with my SK's that I got from Gil's brother Joe...making collared tops, all new grills and using black cloth similar to Klipsch.
  3. Not mine...no affiliation. But a funny read and even more funny price. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/929093855517550/ For Posterity...
  4. I definitely enjoy my Dynakit ST-70 that's using a pair of older 7199's plus a matched quad of JJ KT77's, which is what Kevin from Dynakit likes and had recommended. I have no complaints with it and it sounds spectacular running my quite upgraded/modified Speakerlab SK's. It also sounds great on the Klipsch Epic CF-3 v1's. I'm sure there are some things that could be changed on it that might eek out a little more from it but not sure I'd really hear them. But I'm definitely glad I decided to keep it. I wish it wouldn't have made the picture so big...
  5. Or a parametric EQ. Or any decent EQ for that matter.
  6. So what crossover did you end up using? A Belle crossover? Belle inspired clones aren't too hard of a build.
  7. That's about 11 hours round trip. Not close enough for local pickup for me. Lol.
  8. Your best bet would be to true them up and reveneer them, honestly. As mentioned, it's really thin veneer. Or just repaint them satin black.
  9. @triceratops That's what I was thinking, too. Gonna be hard to just come across a set unless someone has a trashed cabinet pair or just likes parting things out. They wouldn't be the hardest things ever to make as they only have 6 contact points to the speaker. I build a set of grills years ago for a pair of JBL L100T's based on dimensions I gathered from others and they turned out great and were quite an interesting build. Had to do the same thing with a pair of Infinity RSIIIb's that had broken particle board framed grills. But I guess having spent 25 years in home/car audio/video and doing custom & high end installs for both made it easier to do those things. One place you might try calling is Speakerworks in Tulsa, OK and see if they are still building grills and if they would be able to do those. It shows they are still doing grills but not sure for what kind. I know Dave did many for JBL.
