  1. I went with a speaker that although different reminds me a lot of the forte'; Bowers and Wilkins 683 S2.
  2. Thanks, guys. jimjimbo, yep this hobby/madness means quite a lot to us, that's for sure. The music is the most important part but I sure do love the gear. Cheers, Scott
  3. Thank you, wvu80. Yeah, for some reason with my stereo stuff and my bicycles I tend to keep brochures, receipts and boxes. Although I don't remember what happen to the original boxes for the fortes'. I believe I left the boxes at the dealer and put one speaker in my car and since the sales guys lived near me he put one in his car and delivered it for me. Cheers, Scott
  4. Hello, all. For your consideration; the forte' Cheers, Scott
  5. The RP280 is an outstanding speaker. The new horn material that Klipsch is using has really refined highs. At full retail I believe they are a good value. At what Klipsch has them for right now ($419 as mentioned above) makes them a great buy. Even though I just bought speakers, if I had the cash I'd buy a pair for $838. Wow!
  6. Hey, Fred, They are available. I can't accommodate an audition at my residence at this time. Send me a PM with your number and where you're located. If we can work things out I could bring them to your place and you can hear them before making a final decision. Hey, sonder, The forte's are still available. I can make the same offer I made to Fred (letting you hear them at your place). If you're interested send me a PM with your number and we can talk. I have family in Findlay. I noticed you're a Marillion fan. Misplaced Childhood has been in constant rotation for the past 30 years. Saw the boys three times in the '80s. Thanks for the kind wishes. Cheers, guys, Scott
  7. Thanks. I appreciate it. Cheers, Scott
  8. Hello, Klipsch Community, For your consideration is a pair of WO Klipsch forte. I am the original owner. I purchased them in '88. They are original, no mods. They are consecutive serial #s. They include an extra set of factory K-75-K tweeter horn assemblies (horn, diaphram, magnet) purchased new from Klipsch. Also a set of factory K-53-K Phenolic midrange drivers also purchased new from Klipsch. When I purchased the K-75 tweeter assemblies I installed one of the diaphrams into one of the forte's at the time because it had intermitent distortion. In hindsight it may have been a loose connection on the tweeter. Anyway, when I noticed the distortion I purchsed the tweeter and mid diaphrams in case any problems would occcur in the future. I have the original receipt of purchase and the original manuals. At this time I am only listing my forte's here. I hope a member in good standing in this community might want them or know of someone who would. These are for local pick-up or delivery within a reasonable distance of NE Ohio (Akron/Medina area). $650 OBO. Thanks for viewing my ad and for your time. Cheers, Scott

I am ashamed. I got so excited when I saw those beauties I lost all composure and concentration and didn't realize Alerts was a separate area. Doh!
  10. Not affiliated. Just wanted to let people know. Wish I could get them. http://app.audiogon.com/listings/full-range-klipsch-klipschorn-2014-02-05-speakers-60047-long-grove-il

Sorry, wrong area will move to alerts. Couldn't find delete for this. Sorry mods.
  12. What wayward path did you take? You started with Fortes and ended with Fortes, what was in the middle? This will be a good lesson for the youngon's. Multi-driver dynamic floorstanders to to sealed box stand mounts. I enjoyed other set-ups I've had here and there but nothing ever came together easily or last very long or even had the sound I like. They were high maintenance and expensive (for me). It was my fault, I made it too hard. I had great sound from the forte's ten years ago and I should have just enjoyed the music. They were used with a tube pre into the amp section of an NAD 320BEE, source was an NAD 541i cdp and it was sooo good. But I just knew it should get even better (yeah, right). That's when the ugly journey began. What the forte' does so well for me is full range, dynamic, detailed, transparent music that just sounds right and you don't have to spend a fortune to get there, just choose equipment wisely. The set I have listed has just recently come together and I can now honestly say that I'm just about back to where I was a decade ago. I do still miss that octal tube pre I had. The music from it was outrageous. That's my story in a nutshell. I hope it makes sense.
  13. UH1dg337, I'm about an hour southwest of Cleveland so I may take you up on that. Thanks.
  14. billybob. That thought has occured to me. Dayton is my hometown. If DeanG was open to it I may take them down there when I visit sometime. I'll have to reach out to him and see if he's interested.
