  1. I need help, please. I have one pair of La Scala splits, and one pair of KSM-2"s. The KSM's are first generation, I think. They are 32 inches tall, 15 inch woofers, one handle on the top, and a pole receiver on the bottom. Mr. Bob Crites and his son Michael rebuilt the LSI's crossovers last month. (LSI's are new to me) Both sets of speakers sound great to me. All of these have K-43's in them. I use these for two channel listening. I want more bass. A seller has two, KP4000c's. Approximately 10 years old, used about three times, stored in a closet for the rest of the time. He's asking $600.00 for the pair. He also said he had a Rane AC22B crossover he would sell with them. (He said cheap) First of all, are these subs a good match for the speakers I have? If so, how's his price? I currently have a Crown XLS1500 for each KSM2 (1050 watts), and a Crown XLS2500 for each La Scala (1550 watts). With the amps I already have, do I have enough power to run these subs, or will I need another amp? I have two sub outputs I'm not using, that may work. I'm not sure. All of this is a rather new hobby to me, so any good advice is welcome. Thanks.
  2. At the outdoor concert at the Pilgrimage this year, I was looking at the large subs on the ground in front of the stage.I have a pair of KSM2's that sound great, but need a companion sub to round out the sound. I think one of the cabinets I saw there would work well. Am I correct? Can someone tell me what model was in front of the stage? How about a min-max spread on cost for what I might find on the market? If one is good, is two overkill for this application? What amount of power would be correct per cabinet? I saw an ad for a pair of empty cabinets, (no model number given) that look like the ones at the stage. Ad reads " Klipsch dual 18" sub cabs (true 40 hz cabinets) empty, $300.00" Where does that price fall? If there is a better option to go with the KSM2's, I would like to hear some sound advice. Thanks for your time.

  4. My wife and I only made to the first half of the music fest, we had a really good time. Next year we will do better. This young man did a Very Good Job! The next photo is of his father. They nailed "It's Been Awhile"by Stain? Also seeing someone this young mans age doing a good job singing a Johnny Cash song was entertaining as well. If father or son reads this, hit reply and tell us your names. Companies that sell speakers need young people like you to keep playing good music! (Dad did good too.) Keep playing!
  5. Thanks for everyones advice. This week I have to return the speaker Klipsch sent me. It just refuses to work. Is this common? Anyway, later this week when I have more time, I will pull both woofers out of their cabinets. I dont think my cabinets have a routed out recess for the speaker frame to sit down into. I will check for this, also in the cabinet that has the factory original woofer,I will check to see if it is cast or stamped. What Klipsch sent me is cast. I have been reading this forum for a few months, trying to learn. Michael, thanks for taking the time to put out the tech story on the KSM's. I printed them for the file. Good info in there for people like me. By the way, what is a motor board? Joey B, will keep your info in case I need it. Thanks for your help. Will update with the next chapter in the saga!
  6. Help please? Not long ago my church choir director gave me a set of KSM2's. He said another driver ? had blown, and he did not want to deal with it so he replaced them. I got them home, removed the (metal) grill covers, and noticed the 15" woofers looked different. (voice coils are different sizes.) I removed the woofers from both cabinets. The first cabinet had what looks to be the original, factory woofer. Stamped on it is K-43-SK with a voice coil 5 and one half inches in diameter . Second cabinet a Carvin woofer. The Carvin (naturally) needs to be replaced with the correct Klipsch K-43. Since I live in Arkansas, I called Klipsch for a replacement. "Parts" told me they could not find a K-43-SK listed, however a K-43 is now a K-43-EP ,part number 121535. Cost $214.00 plus shipping. I ordered it. The woofer I received has part number "121535" on it .BUT ( Problem number one) The voice coil is 5'' in width. (Problem number two) The new one doesn't work!!!! Besides calling Klipsch tomorrow and getting a RA number so I can return a defective woofer, what do I do next? Last thing, I do not have PayPal. Thanks for any help.
