  1. It may be a dirty relay since it hasn't been used for 5 years.....they cn be cleaned by popping off the plastic cover and sliding a piece of very fine sandpaper back and forth 3 or 4 times on both sides of all contatcts or buying a burnishing tool that is mad for this operation.
  2. Not quite sure what you mean about running the cable to one first and then splitting it from there. What are you using for a source?
  3. It sounds like your on the right track with bad solder connections...hit them and any other iffy looking joints. The fact that it started to be intermittant and then nothing makes me think this. Another thing you can try is to give the plate amp a good wack at start up with an open palm...if it starts then you either have a cold solder joint or maybe even a cracked board.
  4. Try to find a Harmony...I picked up a used Harmony One for under $50 and it does absolutley everything due to the programabilty.
  5. Another artist to consider is Al Stewert.....the recording quality was the first thing that I liked about him. Year Of The Cat and Time Passages are particularly good.
  6. Your right....I didn't read the entire post...sorry. That was a total "speaker block" move.
  7. If you have a set and are the rather play with no grill I will take off your habds one of them...be reasonable. PM with details if you can help a Klipsch brother out. I bought a set from a local thrift store in rough shape cabinet wise and managed to refinish the boxes but one had all the paint worn off the badge.
  8. You can't blame the person that bought them....it was all above board. I picked up a pair of JBL L120 at alocal thrift store for $15 for the pair.....cabinets gouged grills pulled and of course the surrounds rotted away. I have no idea how long they were for sale but am loving these $1200 speakers now. Total to refurb was $75. Let's hope this was an audio fan and wanted them for thier setup and not a flip kind of person.
  9. Is this a rim drive model? If it is I found them to have quit a bit of rumble.....especially if the platter bearing is worn. In addition the drive idler wears faster than a belt or will glaze without consistant use. When they are working 100% it is a nice TT but with a very critical system you will here the rumble.
