  1. That may be a possibility, I will check that out, someone else told me that I should be using 10-12 ga. speaker wire as well, I am currently using 16. I will try that and see. Thanks for your help
  2. Has anyone had trouble with tweeters blowing on this model? The crossovers have been rebuilt and installed titanium tweeters. What I have to drive them is Yamaha MX-1000U and generally run 175 per channel through them. Your input would be appreciated
  3. 2 things, one is I have one pair of KLF's for sale. They are all redone in black satin enamel, all drivers in good shape, grills are flawless, sound really good. No upgrades to my knowledge, selling them so I can upgrade to maybe some cornscalas. Would like to have $750.00 for them, sound like a fair price? The other is, if anyone knowing of someone having a Yamaha CX-1000 pre-amp let me know would you? Thanks
  4. I am almost finished reworking my KLF-30's and noticed the foam configuration was quite different between the four I have. Would it be good to line all the sides plus the top and bottom with egg crate mattress foam or what do you think? Your input would be greatly appreciated
  5. Been looking for a cx-1000u to go with my mx-1000u, probably not willing to piece them out?
  6. Hi everybody, In reference to my first topic I began with the vibration on the KLF 30's, I have started the project. During this I found a couple of baffles loose enough that I just went ahead and pulled them out. I will rough up the edges and glue the whole thing. If someone would help me with some good advice, my questions are: 1) One speaker did not have supports in the center. Using plywood for the main support sufficient and what type of wood do I use for 1" x 1" pieces that are part of that assembly? 2) The configuration of the foam installed inside each one was different, which is the best way to re-install the foam for proper air flow? 3) Who has attempted to install an interior frame and just glued and screwed the panels on? 4) One panel is loose halfway down, proceed taking it off or just re-glue? 5) Lastly, just confirmation that Titebond II is the best to use for this project and how much to apply to eliminate the chance of glue running out of the seam. Your replies would be appreciated Thanks
  7. Thanks, I will do that. They are great sounding speakers and will be worth doing
  8. I have seen them advertised for 800.00 for a pair and sold within a couple of days. Other pairs I've seen advertised were between 1200.00-1600.00 but see them still for sale. Just giving you a range of what I've seen anyway. Talk to you later
  9. Yes there appears to be a slot all the away around , you think a lack of glue applied is the issue??
  10. Hey everybody, All of your input and ideas have been extremely helpful. I will say this though, I'm kind of disappointed in this design and would of returned them if I bought them new. They should of left the cabinets more robust like the Chorus II's, Fortes or the older Cornwalls (My first choice was Chorus II's but could not find anyone near Iowa that had any) and I think they would of been okay but I guess that would of made them really heavy to handle. Regardless, the rear panels appear to be just a little loose in the corners because when I apply pressure in the that particular area the vibration goes away. I plan to take all the drivers out and re-do the cabinets anyway so I will see how secure they are once I have them open. I may plan on selling all 4 of them once I am done restoring them and look for a walnut stained pair of Chorus II's , that is if I am fortunate enough to find someone less than 8 hours away. Maybe give me the ideas of the best tools to use in case I have to knock the panels out or I may just go with option 2 as well, not sure at the point , just want them fixed is all.
  11. I bought four KLF-30's a while ago for a decent price . To my disappointment the cabinets appear to vibrate when they are played loud. I was wondering if there is a good fix to this beings the cabinets are obviously not made heavy enough to accomodate force from the drivers. The other thing is the cabinets are a little rough and the grills need new fabric and wondered if anyone has refinished one and if anyone has applied new fabric on speaker grills. If so could you maybe give me some pointers as well. Thanks Tracy
