  1. One pair of Klipsch AA crossovers. These are from a pair of consecutively numbered 1977 Klipschorns. Good working order when I removed them last year. Thanks
  2. All of the framing is still exposed, so installing some blocking in the corners will be simple. I hadn't thought of additional ways to stiffen the corners (e.g. OSB under the drywall); that wouldn't be difficult to add.
  3. This is great info. I was also thinking about a semi-custom door, rather than a prehung door w/ normal cased trim. Since I won't need to access our seasonal storage that often, I'm going to attempt to craft something that is flush, and that is secure all the way around (like a large access door for an attic kneewall), w/ weatherstripping, etc. Thanks for the input
  4. Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I feel better now about the layout.
  5. 3769_001.pdf3769_001.pdfGreetings: We are currently renovating our attic and will be moving the main system upstairs. I'm attaching a drawing (reasonably drawn to scale) that shows the speaker placement. Short wall is approx. 15-16 feet. Long walls are approx. 50 feet long. 9 foot cathedral ceilings. There are no other interior walls (just a giant, long triangle, more or less). As you can see, on the adjacent long wall on the left size, we need to install an interior door so we can access our seasonal storage. Will the presence of the door impact the sound substantially? e.g. a break in the sheetrock so close to the outer edge of the speaker. Or is there a way to minimize the impact? We really don't have anywhere else we can put the door. Thanks!
  6. I've been on the search for cane grill cloth as well (first for my H1, then if I'm happy with the results, for the Khorns). I posted last week about my search. I'm going w/ the new DuraCrest cane cloth that they made for the 'new' Klipsch Heritage speakers (pictures were posted earlier from the CES). Ralph sent me a free sample (6x6)
  7. Moray, thanks for all the links. I do agree with the naked speaker preference (esp since I've significantly modified all my Klipsch speakers. When I had my Heresy 1 speakers refurbed a few years back, I had the front board painted black, Velcro removed, and haven't had the grill covers on since. These speakers are at my office so no concerns about errant Matchbox cars or baseballs hitting the woofers. I also have decorator LS (1977) so no plans on putting grill covers on those. My plan was to locate material for the Heresy grills and do some A-B testing so that I could find something that I like when I refurb my Klipschorns (1977, Heritage #7 black grill covers). I guess I'm searching for what Muel mentions above...great looks and no attenuation.
  8. I've researched all the old posts that are out there on where to obtain something close to the original cane grill cloth material. Wendell Fabrics MD 4134 has been discontinued. I received a sample of the cane cloth that Duracrest is now making [this is what was featured at the 2016 CES]. The black fabric weave in the new material is prominent, and overshadows the cane fabric, in my opinion. Any other places I should be looking to replace the original cane fabric? Thanks!
  9. I've mixed and matched my Mc gear with my Klipschorns (and with other heritage speakers). Currently running MC30's on my horns, but if you were going to pick a 2 channel SS amp, I'd go with the MC2105. Plenty of power, easily serviceable, sounds great, and classic looks. In additional to my tubes, I've hooked up an Mc250, 2505, and a 2105. At low listening levels the differences are slight. If you want to crank it, or really do some detailed listening on a good turntable, I'd go with the 2105 for a SS choice.
