  1. Thanks gentlemen. :-) They are quite lovely. The in-ceilings I had to move to in the new place are nice, but they're not these. :-(
  2. ***** SOLD ***** For sale is a pair of Klipsch RS-3 Surround speakers. Perfect working condition with not a lot of use - been boxed up in their original packaging/plastic half their life. I will try to post some pics later tonight or tomorrow. $150 local pickup in CO, or $175 shipped UPS Ground. Thanks - please PM if interested. http://www.klipsch.com/rs-3-surround-speaker/details
  3. When I first saw the new ones I thought they looked really cool / space agey. Now I look at them and see kind of a rubbery/plastics look to them. Not necessarily a look I'd care for in my living room. My RF-7II's gloss veneer has a serious look of class about it. I think I'll have to see em in person. And maybe the flagship stuff will receive different finish treatment.
  4. I was told by multiple distros/dealers to expect the new flagship Ref (RF-7II,RC-64II) replacements to command a SIGNIFICANTLY higher MSRP. Helped me bite the bullet on the II gen.
  5. Doh! Thanks for the correction. I thought all the China stuff started with Ref V - will update my post.
  6. ***** SOLD ***** For sale are a set of mint condition Klipsch RF-82 Floorstanders with matching RC-62 Center Channel. These are in absolute perfect condition with no scratches or scuffs and grille cloth is pristine. These are the Ref IV versions. Come with all original manuals and packing materials. I took extremely good care of these, as my OCD does with everything. Local pickup in Colorado Springs or close to it. Asking $850 (price drop from $900) for all 3 as these are pristine. I'm not looking to split these up unless the offer is worth it. Please PM if interested, thanks.
  7. Careful now. It depends what WMA file is being discussed. In the case of WMA Lossless, there is absolutely ZERO difference between it, FLAC or WAV. WMA Lossless is exactly as it says - truly lossless.
  8. I think it's going to be something very mainstream and affordable (Referenceish). Typically super high-end stuff isn't marketed in this matter.
  9. Just spoke to a guy on the phone (Klipsch dealer). He said he basically sits and listens to pretty much most all of Klipsch's lineups all day long. He said many things, one of which was something like "The common misconception is that with each step up in the Reference line you go, you basically get an upgraded version of the one below it. This is not true with the RF-7 II - it really is a completely different speaker. Not just an upgraded RF-82 II." He had no agenda as I told him I already placed an order on them elsewhere. But he really sang praises for the RF-7 IIs. Obviously, he said there are better speakers out there, and certainly in Klipsch's upper lines, but he thought I was going to be pretty happy. Said to let them break-in 100hrs before judging. I remember when I first fired up my 82s - man they sounded kinda bad. Definitely have warmed up and have gotten better over the years. I've got some 10 gauge Blue Jeans cable for them with silver AQ Bananas I bought long ago. Good enough? A bit overkill on the gauge for 10ft runs I know. But you guys don't bi-wire or anything, right? I actually tried bi-wiring at one time on my 82s and could not tell a lick of difference.
  10. I'm hopin'! Curious as to what the wife's first impressions are going to be, lol. I probably really should've done cherry, but oh well. I should queue up some 2001 soundtrack as she walks into the room.
  11. Well, I just ordered a set of RF-7 IIs and an RC-64 II! I'll give full impressions vs. my Ref IV RF-82s/RC-62 when they come in! The guy I talked to said that the whole Reference line up is changing drastically in 2015 and that the new RF-7 II replacements (June/Jul/Aug) timeframe will MSRP for like $4,500/pair. Pretty major changes coming. Atmos? I'm kind stuck with 5.1 in my room, so a full Atmos setup isn't very applicable. No room for side surrounds, just my 5650s in the ceiling behind me. So maybe the new RF-7 IIIs will have top mount for Atmos? I don't know. Or will they be going with a 3-way for 2015? Who knows. I got a killer price on these and can't be dropping $4,500 just on mains. Hopefully it's enough of an upgrade from my '82s!
  12. True, sometimes. We use the setup everyday for hours. If I can enhance it, even a little, without giving anything up, I'm all for it.
  13. Holy cow those 904s look beastly - that is an insane setup you have. Unfortunately, this is in my living/great room, so I cannot go full out like that or the wife would ruin me. An RF-7 is about it as far as size/obnoxiousness. And the centers gotta fit in my center console, which a will just fit. Can you go into why you didn't care for the 7s? I will say the 82's can deliver some very tight bass / mid bass snap without any hint of sounding boomy. Can the same be said of the RF-7 IIs? I would want the RF7s to be just as musical and tight as the 82s. Ugh, I've got the itch bad. I almost called and ordered this evening. Is there ANYTHING I would be giving up going to the RF-7s? Besides a lot of cash, lol.
  14. Currently driving the RF-82s with a DENON 2809ci (115w/ch). Not fatiguing shrill, but at normal listening levels, a bit brighter than I'd like. That's why I'm not convinced an external amp would change things at normal listening levels. I typically have to EQ out a bit of 1k-8k. I've had them in 3 different rooms (houses) now, all very different in treatments/layouts/surfaces. They've pretty much sounded the same in each location, to my ears. I have heard the RF-7 IIs have a bit more relaxed high end on them and I'm thinking this is what I'm after. I still love (always have) the Klipsch horn more forward/detailed sound.
  15. Two different birds told me the RF-7 IIs will not be refreshed in March '15 like the rest of the Ref line- it'll be either July '15 or Jan '16.
