  2. I had a 1999 Mazda 10AE, then a 2004 Mazdaspeed turbo. This 2003 was the natural evolution. Definitely one of my favorite cars I've owned. So many have been butchered, I would really leave it as stock as possible. Spend some cake on track days, you'll be a faster more efficient driver than what mods could do for you. Does it have the secret compartment? Also, check the oil regularly, they use some by design, similar to rotarys. Unfortunately mine was a casualty of divorce, I needed the truck more. My ex never checked the oil and blew up a $10k engine-karma. Enjoy it, it's a rare, pure car.
  3. I have a Fisher x100b resto modded by AEA, custom phono section and some other bits. It's quite outstanding with my Chorus IIs. I'd give them a look, great guys and mondo knowledgeable. They usually have Fisher, Scott, Sherwood, and some others on their site. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  4. I did Skip Barber about 15 years ago-they were Dodge engines at the time-good fun. I have a few friends who are instructors and a few others involved with SCDA. Did my first track day last month and had a great time. Lime Rock Park is my local track. I did a MINI sponsored event last week there on their autocross track, also good fun. I'm hoping to do a few more track days this year, but have to sort a few things on the car. Great stories here-and really dig the Lotus.
  5. Cool info there. I know Honda made 6s earlier, but as far as I know Benelli was the first to put it on the street.
  6. great stuff here! here's some local goings on
  7. Where would that be? Our playground is the Shawnee National Forest, which has more rocks than most people can imagine. Many trails are so rough that 35-55 pound downhill and freeride specific bikes are preferred. However there's a 65 year old man who rides a full rigid steel bike with V-brakes that was made back in the 80's that whips up on everybody, it's insane. We even used to ride with a trials rider who had a full rigid cheap bike that was doing all kinds of crazy mess like it was childs play. I'm up in NY state. Here is a vid of one of our more gnarly local ride/events. http://northatlanticdirt.com/video-beacon-mega-avalanche-2015/ (as you know everything is waaay sketchier than it looks ) Most guys are riding bigger travel enduro bikes there. I ride an Ibis Mojo SL-a little scary there, but great for most other riding. I know what you mean about the rigid guy, there's always one defying all logic with that combo of stubborn and mad skills. I do have a Sinister R9 for DH playing-made in the area by FTW. Where are your local spots? My nephew was down in Fort Campbell the last year and he may have been out there. Also a big small builder fan-he got a Lynskey MT29 recently, had a Sycips.
  8. I'm 52 and haven't worn dayglow spandex since Frankie Goes to Hollywood was in town.....so RELAX. I ride aggressively off road with guys half my age, and do some racing. When you do something like that for an hour min-to all day you will want the right gear. If my activity only lasted 8 seconds I could probably wear jeans and timberlands. Fortunately gear is available in many styles these days. Also in agreement with the above-anyone over 40 who is engaging in strenuous endurance activity deserves props in my book. Most of the people I grew up with look and act like they've got one foot in the grave.
  9. In the 40? Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  10. I would die if I tried to ride a bike like that where we ride. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

  12. Those are some very cool frames. It's nice to see the small frame builders still doing it. My first real bike was a Klein in the early 90's-handmade in Chehalis,WA. Had a bunch since, and still have one hanging on the wall. Made me very sad when Trek killed them. Now I'm riding Ibis, made in good ole China along with most of the other good stuff. I am interested in the new Alchemy Arktos which is mainly built in CO (unusual for carbon to be built in the US) expensive though.
  13. That geometry is spot on! Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
  14. Yep, the small Fender tube amps are probably the best way to go in that range. Def look used too. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
