  1. Quick upate... I managed to mostly eliminate the hum from the sub by changing the cable. I used the original Klipsch stereo cable with a 3.5mm mono to RCA mono adapter and a little electrical tape. I had to insulate the base of the 3.5mm connector and then wrapped the entire adaptor and connector with electrical tape. Now I can turn the volume of the sub up more. Lots of nice punchy low end now!!!
  2. Hi everyone, This is my first post to this forum so I figured I would share what I had done with my old Promedia 5.1 system. I know the topic has appeared before but it always specified the sub could not be used with a standard A/V receiver. After thinking about how the sub connects to a PC sound card I came up with the following configuration: Equipment: Denon AVR-1912 receiver (spare I had laying around) Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1 system (no longer used on my PC) 3.5mm stereo to stereo RCA cable mono RCA to stereo RCA adapter Configuration: FR/FL and center plugged directly into the receiver (surround speakers are awaiting a wireless transmitter/receiver) Sound levels for the speakers are set to their lowest levels on the receiver FR/FL set to "small" on the receiver Subwoofer plugged into the LFE output of the receiver via 3.5mm stereo to stereo RCA cable Stereo RCA recombined to mono via the adapter Subwoofer level set to max on the receiver Volume/power control module plugged into the sub Sub level set to 15 Volume set to 20 (might increase later but if I set it to high a constant noticeable hum is heard from the sub that gets louder as is volume increased on the control module) This setup works and sounds great. Also, cranking the volume on the receiver does not increase the level of the humming from the sub so I found it best to use more volume from the receiver to make the sub louder (which is why the speaker levels were set to the minimum values and the LFE was set to its highest). A setting of 20-25 on the control module appears to work best as anything higher makes the humming noise audible. I am very happy to be able to use my Promedia system again rather than having it serve as a dust collector
