Posted January 17, 200421 yr I found this on ebay, but it is in PWK's hand. Ignore the red line, it is *his* suggested mod to create a 2-way crossover. He called it a "bridge" and suggested it would not help. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3071298235
January 18, 200421 yr Wow, nice work John. The collective archive of crossovers is growing. If I may disagree with the described effect of bridging out L-3. L-3 is what is causing the midrange filter to roll off at 3 dB at the high end . . . making it a passband filter. Shorting it out eliminates the roll off and thus we wind up with a high pass. The 12 per octave at the lower side of the midrange remains the same . . . pretty much. Gil
January 18, 200421 yr Thanks, John. I saw that too, but thick-headedly didn't realize somehow it was for the crossovers in my own KHorns, which I didn't have a schematic for and was planning to manually noodle out. Good thing somebody is awake. Saved this in with the otheres, and Gil's right, starting to turn into quite a collection. Thanks again.
January 18, 200421 yr Ya know, sometimes I read things too literally. Perhaps the goal was to let the mid function up to its highest frequency without roll off from the filter. And then disconnect the tweeter. Yup, then with the disconnect it becomes a two-way. This would return it to the earlier (non-tweeter) form of the K-Horn with a K-5. Gil
January 19, 200421 yr I actually put in a sniper bid on that stuff, but it didn't wash. somebody else had a higher bid in before my sniper bid hit. His wasn't enough to make the reserve either. I wonder what the guy's reserve is like.
