I am currently setting up my home theater and music system. The room size is 12x18 and does not have the left-side wall. My question is how would I position the speakers to get optinum sound for both 5.1 (for watching movies) and stereo (for music listening) configuration. Since I do not have a left sidewall, I cannot mount the surround speakers (Bipole) on the sidewall, how should I mount them? On the ceiling? On the back wall? The room is just a regular room with no acoustic treatment; do I need an equalizer?
The following is a list of my equipments:
Panamax MAX1500 A/V Surge Protector
McIntosh MX130 THX Preamp
McIntosh MAC-3 DD Surround Decoder
McIntosh MC7106 6-Channel THX Amp
McIntosh MLD7020 Laser Video Disc Player
Panasonic S35 DVD Player
Sony SAT-A4 Satellite Receiver
Sony SLV-R1000 SVHS Video Cassette Player
McIntosh MCD7009 Compact Disc Player
Nakamichi DR-1 Cassette Deck
McIntosh HT-1 THX Front Speakers
McIntosh HT-2 THX Subwoofer
McIntosh HT-3 THX Surround Speakers
McIntosh HT-4 THX Center Speaker
Sony XBR 53" Rear-Projection TV
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
