  1. I am curently using the 510 it is alright TT for the money but a friend of mine bought a Thorens 160 and put a Ortofon OM-30 super 2 on it , we hooked both of them up to his mc32 and mc2100 and the Thorens sounded much cleaner. For my money I would buy a used thorens 125 with a sme arm on it cost 500.00 and put a Om-30 cost 158.00 on it. I would use the rest of the money and send the mc 26 out and have it brought up to spec.Just my 2 cents 1.gif Good luck

I would of gone as high as 1500 so It is a good thing I did not bid becuase all that would of happened is you would of payed more and I still would not have mc 30s. now comes the hard part waiting for them to get there so you can hear them. ENJOY1.gif

  5. I wanted to bid on them also but bigmama was looking over my shoulder, never bid on somthing that expensive with the wife in the same room.

Seriously when I saw those on ebay before I went to work I new someone was going to get a good deal, the time they ended had a lot to do with the price, most people are still at work or trying to get home.Congrats great looking pair.

tell us more about you current system and listening tastes, then we can be more helpful.  ASL makes some nice product at a good price point...tony

sorry about answering your question in two parts but I was at work and had to cut it short. I am a rock and roll fan mostly, a little jazz and big band thrown in to mellow out with.

I was looking at ASL AQ-1001dt 50 watt per channel integrated amp. anyway just curious I still might send out my marantz and have it worked on.

  7. I have marantz amp 250, preamp 3800, and a 150 tuner hooked to la scala's and altec valencia's.I sent the 250 out and had it recaped and now it looks as if I am going to have to send the 150 out and if i am going to do that then i am also going to send the 3800 out also .The bill will be around 600or 700$ so I am considering my options.

  8. I am also new to the forum it is great. I have been lucky when it comes to speakers. I bought a pair altec valencia's off a guy for 20.00 they needed a littel work but once I finished they were worth the time. The next month I went to a garage sale and found a pair of la scala for 150.00 and all I had to do is plug and play. Take your time and check the classifieds you never know.1.gif

  9. Hi everybody I have been enjoying your post for the past couple of days and thought it was time to say Hi. I just recently got in to this hobby but when I did I had the luck of the Irish on my side. The first pair of horn speakers I bought were a pair of Altec Valencia's, answered an add in local paper I payed $20.00 for them. Brought them home and they work great. Three weeks later my wife draged me to garage sales with her, the first one we went to had a pair of 82 la scala's for sale I payed 150.00 for them so needless to say i have been lucky. They sound great i am listening as i write. What a great hobby.
