  1. (Potential Repost - can't find the old thread?- trying to clean out my electronics closet)

Used in great condition Parasound HCA-1201 monoblock power amplifier. Was previously powering my Klipsch RC-7 center channel. Located in metro ATL.

    150W x 1 channel (mono block) @ 8ohm, 240W @ 4ohm
    THX certified
    Supports RCA and XLR connections

Looking for ~$150 given its XLR and monoblock nature. Open to shipping for those interested.

  2. Purchased in Jan 2014 from Amazon (authorized reseller) used to power the RF-7s. Like new, sat on the stand and never moved :-)

Includes original cord - going to check in the attic to see if I still have the original box.

    - 300 watts per channel at 8 ohms, 525 watts per channel at 4 ohms, 1550 watts per channel at 4 ohms bridged
    - High Performance, Lightweight Class-D amp weighs less than 11 lbs
    - Integrated PureBand Crossover System for better performance and control
    - PeakX Limiters provide maximum output while protecting your speakers
    - XLS, 1/4", RCA Inputs provide outstanding flexibility

    Looking for $175 shipped

If you can't get the 200.2 at the price you want, consider this for your rear surrounds.  A tad high also but the ad does say "make offer".

The 200.5 will do a fine job running your LCR and surrounds.

Hmm not a bad idea either - would this be better for the RB-75 or the RS-7s? I would think the RB-75s would rather have all the power from a 200wpc. Let me try offering this guy and see what he says.

Either pair would be fine, though your side surrounds(RS-7's) are utilized more in movie soundtracks most of the time.

Hmm that's a good point. That person is the same one who has it listed on ebay and they are firm. I'd rather spend the 100 bucks more for 2x the power. I'll just wait till they don't sell to move in :-)

  4. The PLX's and PLX-2's sound the same, just a few different features.  You can get a used one fairly at a fairly reasonable price.  I have 4 in my living room and they're very non fatiguing.  You just have to put a quiet fan in them.  I've had probably half a dozen or more forum members over for listening and all loved them.

Hmm that's good to hear on class D. I know a lot of people also enjoy the Peachtree 220s - but this crown has really turned me off to class D (even though as a CmpE / EE by degree I should know class D is the way to go).

I think I'll stick to the B&K's for right now but I definitely would like to hear the PLX - are you in the Houston / Austin area?

Thanks ellis - still looking for a 2 channel around $700 that pairs nicely with RF-7s. Just picked up a B&K 200.5.

Look for a QSC PLX2.  Phenomenal with 7's.

It's a class D right? I have the crown now it just seems super bright for my liking...going to see how the B&K sounds since I do like a lot of 2 channel music

  7.

Been negotiating with him - he's too high - 2 weeks ago 2 separate ones both sold for 500 / 600 with shipping. No deal is better than a bad deal :-)

True a tad high but a great amp it is.

It is a matching set though. ;)  :D

    Bill

That's why I'm working on getting the price down haha

  8. The RMB 1095 is not a true balanced amp.  I would not worry about that though.  It is a great sounding 5 channel amplifier.  Your Marantz is likely not a balanced design either.  Keep in mind that just because XLR balanced inputs and outputs are provided does not mean a balanced design.

Agreed - but does seem that XLR balanced is slightly better than RCA (at least in my house I've been trying to figure out where the feedback comes from with ground loops ,etc). Plus it just sounds cooler to use XLR inputs vc RCA :-P

  9. Have you looked into the Emotiva line?

I have - sounded super bright to me on Klipsch horns - all subjective I suppose. I haven't heard the new XPA-5s but crazy that the prices have gone up so much over the past years (I remember when XPA-5s went on sale regularly for 699).

  10.

    and then re-purpose the RB-75s

When I bought my 75's and then heard them, there was no way they were going to be used as surrounds.  They are incredible stereo "bookshelf" speakers.

    Bill

Oh I agree that's why I held onto them dear life when I was "asked" *cough* to sell the bedroom 5.1. I hinted at flying to Tampa to go and pick them up (RF-7s iis) - was not received well lol.

Haven't heard the sunfire amps with RF-7s? Plenty avail on ebay not sure if that's a good or bad sign.

  11.

Also look for a B&K Reference 7250.  It is about 95% same amp as the 200.5 but a couple of years older.

    Bill

No balanced inputs :-( But found one on ebay for a good price. Seriously Atlanta what's up with no 2nd hand amplifiers

On another note I found a set of RF-7 II's in cherry for $1550 in Gville, Fl - seems too high priced given what I've been looking at on the forums. Would definitely like to rotate those into my upstairs 2.0 DJ setup (and then re-purpose the RB-75s). Since I lost the bedroom 5.1, at least now I can do an office 2.0

  12. Not entirely, the center sounds hollow a lot - I'm thinking the new pre will help somewhat using balanced, but when I've tried driving the RF-7s from the center block it seems weak.

Are you pleased with the Parasound driving your RC-7?

If so, why not another Parasound?

    Bill

  13. Finally making the jump into the balanced world - have a Marantz AV7702 on the way so now need some good amplification for my setup.

From what I've heard personally the RMB-1095s sound great on the RF-7s, but open to any other suggestions / available. Would prefer to pick up semi-locally (~150miles). Thanks everyone.
